I was expecting for that response even before opening this thread. And as someone who highly values education, I'm really glad she said it herself. Kudos to her honesty. It takes a lot of humility to even acknowledge that, especially with her stature as a globally recognized public figure who's idolised mostly by the younger demographic. My respect goes to her!  :applause:

Yeah, self-education is pretty much the way to go. Being educated in school and other learning establishments is so over-rated (I know - I completed high school and graduated university). For those who didn't complete their education or go on to higher education, they seem to think these experiences would have granted them with a knowledge so profound that they would never forget and is something they couldn't get from anywhere else. It's all a load of nonsense. Hardly anyone remembers the stuff they learned in school apart from basic writing skills and basic maths. How much knowledge have I retained from school, found useful in everyday life? Very little. School likes to think it prepares you for real life when in fact, jobs couldn't be more different from what you got taught or how you got taught. All this learning what is deemed appropriate for your age, getting spoon-fed every little bit of information and working in groups to find out answers just hinders your learning as opposed to broadening it. It's no wonder some teens leave at 16 and then find they don't know what their brain is capable of, can't fathom the idea of doing independent research and have no idea about how to present their own opinions. Or they finish high school and go on to university, where they're suddenly told to do the opposite of everything they were taught in school, like choosing what information to take note of, finding answers independently. To be honest, the best learning experiences I've ever had are my self-educating ones. You're far more likely to remember something that you're interested in, that you have researched of your own free will and are not being tested on what you know afterwards.

I say Katy will be far better off learning independently, providing she has the right sources. With all her money, she'll never have to find another job if her singing career withers, so no need to bother with taking a few years out of her life becoming a student or something. Unless it's for a degree that you really need in a job you want to pursue, going to college/university later in life is pointless.

Disregard

Her holy roller parents let her drop out in her freshman year? Such values. :wtf:  Everything I've ever read about them makes them seem like such questionable people.

Anyway, she has all the opportunity in the world to advance her education, so good for her if she makes good on that opportunity.

What is stopping her from continuing her education?

I wonder if Gaga ever feels pings of the same regret? I'm sure she's happy but she must think about how different things could have been.

Of course some of you just can't resist the opportunity to take a shot at her...

It's a nice regret. Learning more and expanding your knowledge is always good. Especially for an artist, education is key.

At least Gaga went to a quality academic high school and and has one year beyond that ... pretty good for any pop star where the pressure is on to start so young.

Katy has Grade 9 at schools she describes as:

"Sometimes we were sent to these really half-Christian, half-education, I-don't-know-what-they-were schools," she explained."
