this is what you get when yoh have a huge amount of natural resources in a country that would alreadg be one of the most successful without them

They should honestly invest it in research. So much research (which profits the whole world) can be done with that money. Or they could build new universities and revamp their education system to become the best in the world.

Keeping everybody alive an extra 2 years isn't useful, imo.

their natural resources arent THAT massive. My Country produces more oil for instance than Norway does.

But with only 5 million people, the amount of resources they do have can generate a lot of wealth per person

And that is why they are building up their really big wealth fund. Cause they are already begginin to hit peak oil and production is beggining to fall...

So they plan on dipping into the fund in the future for restructuring of the economy....

And they need to because oil has payed for high welfare and entitlements and so 1 in 5 people in the workforce age are receiving such benefits instead of working.

Also high labor costs means their manufacturing and other industries are not that competitive especially with their high tax policies on top of that.

So they will need major restructuing which will be a challange. Oil cant sustain them forever if its already hitting a peak :shrug:
