Das a lot.... as i said... people left the workforce... more people retired or quit than began looking for work the population in a single month grows more than 200 so it wasnt jobs that made it go down. Economy 52,844 Posted August 8, 2014 Author Share Posted August 8, 2014 maybe the 200 was what it missed to get that 0.1% less no, it said people left the workforce part of the reason unemployment in the US is down to 6.2% is because of how many people left the workforce also. discouraged workers who gave up looking for work, and some people who were old and lost jobs just retired early Unemployment can be misleading on the state of the economy as a result. For instance in Canada the labor force participation rate is 65% while in the US is about 62% so over-all we have more employment even tho "unemployment" is 0.8% higher in Canada Also Norway has unemployment thats like below 3%. Are you in the percentage of unemployed? depends. if u had a job, lost it and are receiving unemployment benefits your counted as unemployed... if you go into an agency or register for online add searches to look for work and the Government knows your looking for work, your also counted as unemployed If you never had a job, never registered for any agency help etc, then you will not be counted in the unemployed statistic regardless of whether your trying to find a job or not because the Government has no way of knowing your attempting to participate in the workforce but simply have no job If you loose your job and take so long to find another job that you let you unemoyment benefits expire, and you never register to look through adds, you also stop being counted as part of the workforce and are not included in the unemployment statistics Some people looking for work dont end up being counted in these numbers so the real unemployment number is always higher than the official number shows For instance the US currently has an unemployment rate that has now dropped to 6.2%.
