I agree with you on this. Personally, I've always found the DWUW single cover so cringe - there's nothing artistic about it. All you have to do to know them is keep up with popular culture to some degree. But yeah, I think it's pretty clear that he secretly loves her. A typical case of a stan in the closet. And the s-x selling argument is accurate, she'd never sold s-x until ARTPOP era. She's always sold s-x to some degree, I think.
