Honestly, what would people think of Tony if Gaga never mentioned him? Would they still hold him in such high regard? It's like the reason they hate on Katy. She has a mediocre voice yet had a successful album era but is seen as the anti-Gaga. Now what if she were to collab with Gaga? Then again she has no Grammy Awards so... "what would people think of Tony if Gaga never mentioned him?" - People with some kind of general knowledge would consider him as a legend. Tony is one of the most iconic traditional pop/jazz singers of all time, he has won 17 Grammy Awards and two Emmy Awards, he is the founder of the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, he is an accomplished painter, he fought in the World War II and participated in the Civil Rights movement. He is almost in his 90's and he still got a #1 album 3 years ago. This. I've never listened to his albums personally but I've grown up knowing of him. I don't even know how anyone can shade him. It's like they're finding an outlet to drag something about the album because they can't shade Gaga's vocals (on point), the production (fabulous), so they find the thing in the song that least appeals to them: Tony. Gaga said on twitter that they kept recording until they got it right. What you hear on the record is in one take, it's not joined together or anything.
