I'm going to get stoned for this but :toofunny: Dark Horse was so cute, and creative...and colorful and bright. Terrible song but cute video for someone like Katy...Applause was Gaga rolling around in Paint in black and white footage for most of the video :emma: JUST my opinion though, It's not my favorite video and I don't really get the praise for it... But G.U.Y on the otherhand :deadbanana: that deserved WAY more than 1.

Katy and her team make creative music videos, Roar was :flop: but Dark Horse, and Unconditionally deserve noms. So did G.U.Y

"Drunk in Love" has a ton of noms but it's the most boring/basic video on the album...

Gags is not relevant so I was expecting this...

-Applause 14 Weeks Top 10

-Do What U Want: 1 Million Copies in US and #3 in Canada with now video

-ARTPOP: 9th Best Selling Album of 2013/ #1 in US and Canada

-Album coming out with the one and only Tony Bennett who has 17 Grammys to his name

-Makes headlines everywhere with a 30 second music video snippet

-Gaga helped break the attendance the attendance record of the Ottawa Bluesfest

-Plays to a huge crowd of 85,000+ fans in Quebec City

-Plays 7 sold out shows in Roseland to close the venue

They proved once again that they won't mind to snub the best video of the year to honour the most successful people only to draw more ratings.

That could backfire.  Rating could drop without Gaga.  There is already a "boycott VMAs" thread on LM.  This could cost MTV money, as advertising dollars are tied to ratings.  I'm not watching.

I live outside the space time continuum.

I'm sure this is an unpopular opinion on this board but I don't think G.U.Y. deserved any nominations, it's a very unprofessional video (poor direction and editing, hard to watch). Add to that the fact that the song sold like 30k and why would they nominate it?

Applause should have gotten one or two though.

Like djBuffoon said on my status, it's just further proof that her work with ARTPOP is not the issue whatsoever. Applause and G.U.Y. are arguably her two best music videos.

it's sad because gaga hasn't been nominated for a VMA since 2011, basically gaga hasn't got anything in 3 ****ing years, not even nominations

So her videos getting snubbed is proof that the videos aren't the issue? That seems like a contradiction. We don't know why they didn't nominate her. Maybe they thought the videos weren't good enough or memorable enough. Just because some of her hardcore fans love the Applause/G.U.Y. videos doesn't mean anyone else is interested.

Looks like we can't brag about Gaga's VMA wins anymore, apparently the nominations and awards don't mean ****.  :ohwell:

The MTV awards are morely given on popularity and success than actual artistic merit, so this doesn't surprise me at all.
