I Have An Itunes Metadata Question.... (kind of urgent)

So a long time ago, a person I respect very much gave me a bit of a hard time over my remix collections that I would post, saying they were 'messy', the metadata was never right or all in order, and that he always had to go into Itunes himself and fix all the metadata to reflect the tracklistings I was trying to make and the song titles that still reflected what the original remixer had named the song.

Of course at first I felt bad, then I realized I needed to learn how to fix this problem myself so my esteemed friend wouldn't have to waste his life fixing it for me. :haha: So, my question is, how can a song's metadata be edited so that everything shows up in order?

I need to learn this asap, so if any of you have any suggestions... I really appreciate it!

many thanks

your Chica

there are some apps for it, mostly paid ones, tho some are free. they will scan your library and fix the most well known songs perfectly. it's likely that some lesser known songs or remixes won't be properly tagged, so u might have to tag those manually. but it does help a lot.

To fix metadata permanently, I previously used Mediamonkey, which keeps the changes no matter what the file would be put on (Whether iTunes, Windows media, etc) But this was years ago and idk if how it works now.

I root for you. I love you. You, you, you, you.

Never occured to me to do it using a program or anything :lmao:

usually you have to do it pre-converting in iTunes

like if I converted something as ART POP and then corrected the title after to ARTPOP, deleted the files and re-imported them then would show back up as ART POP

I mean... let's say I have a remix.

and I import it to itunes like this:

Alejandro Remix Demo1 bychica

album:

my recordings

artist:

Lady Gaga

and I want it to permanently rename it

Alejandro (Demo Remix by Chica)

album:

Necromancy Project Vol 3

artist:

Lady Gaga

I would have to manually change those names... in Windows where it's stored, or in Itunes?

If you change the file in iTunes it should automatically change the windows file. At least for me it does!

WHat is metadata?

By the time you reach the end of this sentence, it'll be too late to realize I just wasted your time with a pointless sig.

If you change the info on iTunes, it will edit the entire file itself. I've done it thousands of times.

Hey Chica, right click the song in iTunes, click "Get Info", then in the window that pops up, go to the Info tab. There, you can edit the metadata easily :)

Also, if you select multiple songs, right click, and do "get info", you'll be able to edit any particular metadata field for all of them at once. Example: change ALBUM metadata for all of them to: Chica's Gaga Archive; and change ARTIST to Lady Gaga.

I hope that helps! :)

if I do this on a connected ipod, it will remain as I changed it, right?
