ARTPOP is the most underrated album ever

The concept and theme is completely underdeveloped too

As much as it is a good album, it doesn't hold a candle to Born This Way. The fact that it was released after one of the greatest albums in the history of pop music makes it underappreciated, perhaps, 'cause let's face it, it WAS a downgrade.

For me it's like this album was made to success with all their 3-minute songs, catchy fast electronic tunes. But in reality it all kinda feels like empty and dull "Swine" especially.

 

The organic sound of Born This Way gives longetivity to the album.

 

But ARTPOP is just catchy Pop record with a few artsy lyrics here and there. Mostly weird.

It is not the best album ever but I do think it is underrated, it's underperformance made people act like it is a huge pile of **** but it is not,

The problem is - the album is not consistent. There are bunch of completely different songs with different messages and sound. Also there are few very underwhelming songs there, which excludes an album from being masterpiece

It is so upsetting that since Copy Perry did better than Gaga (which really isn't that much better than her when Katy is in her "peak" and Gaga is "flopping") ARTPOP is seen as a horrible album and a complete failure. I'm f*cking sorry that Gaga didn't sell 1 million copies in the US first week, SHES DONT IT BEFORE and where was the praise then?? No where to be found! OH! And the fricken album cover that brings 2 popular and classic art pieces into the cover of a pop album! Your are completely correct, if ARTPOP sold 10 million copies it would EASILY be everyone's favorite album, just because it already has good music, just not huge success (which she's had 2 times before so who does she have to prove!?) so people drag it! See this is why people laugh at Monsters, if you said she was one of the greatest then i would agree with you. But the way you put it you'd think she were a one in a million talent and we'll never see her kind again, and to top it all off you call it a "fact". That is an opinion sugar tits, this is how i would have put it as an OPINION "Gaga is one of the most innovative pop artists from our generation who rejuvenated an ailing mainstream music industry with her eccentric style and grace. A great vocalist, songwriter and visionary, she will forever be acknowledged for her impact on pop culture".

This thread pertains to the quality of the album, not what she wore or her live performances. I could easily mention many iconic BTW outfits and performances as well but that's not relevant. As far as album covers go, the majority hated the BTW album cover but the album is seen as a masterpiece, so no point in bringing up irrelevant side factors.

 

Also why do you keep bleating "10 million copies"? How do you know everyone would love the album? That's simply conjecture so stop passing it off as some hard stone truth. Not to mention it's completely irrational when looking at the current plight of album sales.

 

Whether it had good music or not is up to each individual, but by all indications the album was a disappointment sales wise, music wise and management wise.

Sorry, but if you don't think things like ARTPOP would be considered an amazing piece of music and it would have gotten a lot better reviews from critics if it sold better then your delusional

I'm not getting into any arguments in this thread because there is one fact that no one can deny, ARTPOP is a really cool concept that should have been given more respect, but since it didn't sell so well it is seen as a messy concept and gets bet reviews from critics :shrug:

Why should i defend something/someone blindly? I've looked at ARTPOP as objectively as i can and have based my opinion on it by that. I assume you must be really young...

 

Also stop taking the moral high-ground here as if the ones defending her are some to the death martyrs. I'm sure Gaga would prefer fans that tell her like it is than annoying ones like you that can't handle one ounce of criticism her way.

The songs are very basic and just so soulless and lacking in comparison to her past work. She said every song on the album is designed to be a hit, and you can see what her method for doing that was. It's bubblegum pop but with weirdness added to it, lacking the depth and creativity of her past songs. Even her older bubblegum hits had depth to them.

I really hope she does do the b side album. Getting her old songs is probably the most enjoyment I'll get out of Gaga as I cannot stand her new direction. It's basic and tacky. I still love Gaga but not this new direction.
