The UK is so weird, you guys actually rate car emissions in g/km. I mean there are government sites that you look up your make and model of car and see the emissions. I don't even think factories here publish the emissions data anywhere, at least I've never seen it, you'd have to get hold of their European catalogs or something.

They even advertise emissions in Europe! Who in the world would care about emissions? I have an ad for the SEAT Leon Cupra in front of me and it says "CO2 emissions 190g/km" in it. A Mondeo diesel is 119 g/km.

That's pretty lame performance though!  Higher numbers are always better in my opinion. A Dodge Ram 2500 with a 6.7L Cummins turbo-diesel spews out 540 g/km, as much as 4-1/2 Mondeos. Now that's what I'm talking about!

Edit: in fact 540 g/km is the same as a Ferrari Enzo! So you can get Ferrari performance from a Cummins Ram, but much cheaper and it can climb over stuff and tow things! Like your boat! And most importantly it's bigger and heavier! Pretty badass!

Mechanics just keep the emissions below a certain level....

The reason we have it is because you pay higher road tax on higher emissions cars I think...
