AnaLucia95 2
That honestly one of the dumbest posts I've never seen on this site. Respectfully. EDIT: Freedom of speech IS a basic human right. It's honestly one of the principal, most universal human rights. Restricting the Westboro Baptist Church's freedom to say whatever they want IS a human rights violation, no matter how much you disagree with them. It genuinely disturbs me that there are people in the world who would want to me it illegal for someone to speak their mind because they happen to disagree with them. It's repulsive. And it is soooooooooooo ignorant to say that racism "can't be found in a bigger extent in Europe", especially wester Europe. France is almost always on the list on of most racist countries in the world, and England has a huuuugge problem with racism and violent crime against muslim/arabic peoples. Don't even get me started on racial tension and mass murder in Eastern Europe The delusion is real! Thanks for insulting me, but I didn't insult you. You show a lack of disrespect. And I see our views on freedom of speech is different and I need to accept that. (And you should do the same!) I'd rather live in a country which forbids to hate against a specific group than a country which allows it.

You want to live in a country where your government can ban you from saying certain things. It's OK that you like the Thought Police. Just don't come to any country that upholds basic human rights when your government oversteps its boundaries and gets its hands around YOUR personal rights as a human, because we won't show any sympathy . I didn't try to insult you hun. I was only speaking the truth

Just because I disagree it doesn't mean I will restrict their freedom to think as they please. Next thing you know these governments will also make it illegal to say anything against the government. I respect other peoples' right to say whatever the heck they want. As a gay man, I would fight and die for a homophobes right to openly call be a f****t. Just because something hurts my feelings doesn't mean that I can make it illegal. That moronic. This so much. Mess at people letting the government restrict their freedom of speech. There is no restriction of freedom of speech sis, they still can protest they just have to warn the police first to avoid any violence for god's sake why are you even arguing about something you didn't got right

Whispering 18,865
Westboro Baptists are hateful but just because one disagrees with them doesn't mean they must be silenced this is a fundamental difference in the cultures, America values personal freedoms more, France seems to think overall "French society" is more important. Like when the French government didn't want people wearing burqas or niqab (anti-Muslim) so they just decided to ban all types of face coverings, this law would not be possible in America. America still found a way to silence Westboro at certain times: On August 2, 2012, Congress passed a bill that included restrictions on demonstrators at military funerals, which became law four days later when signed by President Obama. The bill says that for 2 hours before until 2 hours after the funeral service demonstrators must stay at least 300 feet (91 m) away from the boundary of the funeral location and away from the residence of grieving family members. This law came about after several states had passed similar state laws keeping Westboro away from funerals and memorials. There are limits on Freedom of Speech in the US, for certain situations. Goosey 3,017
There are limits on Freedom of Speech in the US, for certain situations. Yes, some limits, not nearly as many or as far-reaching as France though, same with most all European countries. Germany for example has very strict laws against insults and rude words, "Beleidigung", and bans Nazi symbols, etc. My statement is correct, Americans value personal freedoms more than "greater good of society" which many European nations favour. You would not be allowed to carry a .45 automatic or constantly spread hate speech online and offline in most European countries.
