If you read my post, you should know that I was not talking about the present conflict as a new one but only as the outcome of a much longer story. A story that convinced a lot of people, a long time ago, that Israel was actively (and sometimes illegally) repressing the Palestinians and forcefeeding them with ideas that can undoubtedly provoke an even more violent response. I didn't even say this was my opinion and I don't even feel comfortable sharing it anymore. I'm just trying to open up the discussion. As for your comment, the UN, among others, have commented on this "Hamas sacrifices own people" idea by saying that violence is the only way they can secure a better outcome for Gaza, because diplomacy has obviously failed. The UN, at the beginning of the conflict, blamed Israel for not carrying out their promises (that resulted in a ceasefire of several years) that involved Gaza. A UN spokesman has said that the Gaza citizens feel trapped and have nothing left to lose but their own lives, which aren't worth that much to begin with. I'm almost bored by myself mentioning it, but Israel has shown that they are not interested in peace either, building more and more settlements, conquering more and more land and using some of it for illegal purposes (as proven by several independent humanitarian organizations). These practices have convinced a lot of people that Israel is not making any efforts to secure peace and that the hatred and violence against Israel is, in some level of understanding, "logical". You can't just forget the entire history of the conflict and interpret everything that's happening in the eye of Israel. You could also say that, if Israel is experiencing such an enormous threat by numerous countries, they need to work harder to compromise and accept the needs of the other that have been denied for years and have only increased the hatred.point taken...Israel is adding to the conflict by their own actions and claiming they are victims is equally preposterous .. I am not trying to pass judgment of right and wrong but trying to work a solution to ending the violent deaths of civilians. Neither aide has offered or attempted to do so and continually point eh finger at the other. As I see things, Israel is forcibly settling land they do not own, and the Arabs are resorting to guerrilla tactics when open military conflict fails .... like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. What is wrong in advising him to listen to his own people who are for peace??? I have seen protests of Jews in different states of America, Britain, Israel etc. demanding from Israeli goverment to stop massacre of children, to end the occupation, they ask USA and UK to stop arming Israel, what is wrong with that? Are you hungry for war? And hundreds of thousands of people from all ethnic backrounds in streets of London, Madrid, CapeTown, Dublin etc. I haven't seen hundreds or thousands of Arabs demonstrating their support for Netanyahu tho. Anyway, this protest happened just today, so I didn't really repeat myself. And he is kind of new in this discussion, no one's gonna go back and re-read 140 pages.
