So IDF can freely use civilian houses and schools to store their weapons and to shoot from?!

And there is more...eww

Palestinians returning home find IDF left feces & graffiti: http://t.co/QUpj9ARGdS "‘Good Arab = dead Arab’ were engraved on a coffee table"

When Ahmed Owedat returned to his home 18 days after Israeli soldiers took it over in the middle of the night, he was greeted with an overpowering stench.

He picked through the wreckage of his possessions thrown from upstairs windows to find that the departing troops had left a number of messages. One came from piles of faeces on his tiled floors and in wastepaper baskets, and a plastic bottle filled with urine.

If that was not clear enough, the words "F*ck Hamas" had been carved into a concrete wall in the staircase. "Burn Gaza down" and "Good Arab = dead Arab" were engraved on a coffee table. The star of David was drawn in blue in a bedroom.

...

The Israel Defence Forces did not respond to a request for comment.

Half an hour's drive north, a similar picture was found at Beit Hanoun girls' school, taken over by the IDF following the ground operation. Broken glass and rubble littered the floors and stairs. Tables and desks were covered in the abandoned detritus of an occupying army: hardened bread rolls, empty tins of hummus, desiccated olives, cans of energy drinks, bullet casings. Flies buzzed around the rotting food.

Here too, said the school's caretaker, Fayez, who didn't want to give his full name, soldiers had defecated in bins and cardboard boxes, and urinated in water bottles. "You will be f*cked here" and "Don't forget it's time for you to die" were chalked in English on blackboards.

Does someone know why Israel keeps rejecting the idea of opening Gaza's borders? Just trying to understand, I never really heard their official reaction about the idea and this has been the essential point of Hamas' refusal for stopping to fire rockets, so I really want to know.

Because there is a chance of terror attacks (bombing buses, restaurants, malls, shootings inside hotels) inside Israel, when the borders where open Israel suffered from terror attacks, and after the borders where close the terror attacks stopped.

Erm Hamas has declared they want to wipe out Israel. They believe in their right to carry out terrorist attacks inside of Israel in order to reach their goal and they actually promised they'd do that, I think it's kinda obv why Israel wants to keep the blockade on Gaza as long that Hamas controls it.

I understand, thanks for answering  I know that this was the case in the past, and at the risk of sounding naive, it seems to me that Hamas does not share that point of view anymore. From what I've read Hamas is willing to recognize Israel as a state (temporarily) for at least 10 years if Gaza/Palestine is recognized as a legitimate state etc.

Well, whatever, I will never know for sure what the exact reasoning is in both camps. I just hope this conflict ends soon, I do not believe that there is no possible solution that excludes eliminating Hamas completely.

Messi defends rights of Gaza children

Popular Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi has defended rights of children in conflict areas, especially in the Gaza Strip where a month of fighting has claimed nearly 1,900 Palestinian lives.

“As a father and a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, I am terribly saddened by the images coming from the conflict between Israel and Palestine, where violence has already claimed so many young lives and to injure countless children,†Messi wrote Thursday on his official Facebook page, which is liked by 68,043,913 fans as of Friday.

Messi, who currently plays for Barcelona, added that: “Children did not create this conflict, but they are paying the ultimate price,†and urged that “this cycle of senseless violence must stop. We must reflect on the consequences of military conflicts and children must be protected.â€

His message was written both in Arabic and English, and a picture of a bandaged child was attached.

At least 63,571 fans liked his post while 12, 178 others shared it, as of Friday.

Comments in reaction to Messi’s post ranged from those shocked that an international superstar would support Palestinians to expressions of support for his message.

“How you can support Arab terrorist organization,†one person wrote in reference to the Palestinian movement Hamas, labeled a terrorist group by the United States.

Some showed gratitude for the footballer’s message, saying “Thanx Leo… Free Palestine†and “Messi I love my live.â€

Some Twitter users, meanwhile, considered Messi’s Facebook message as decisive in clearing speculation over the footballer’s stance on the conflict.

“Leo Messi has officially supported Gaza over the Israel issue now. Hopefully that will shut some mouths,†wrote one Twitter user, while another said: “I don’t blame the ones who made up the stories on Messi supporting killing of children in Gaza as much as I blame the ones who believed them.â€

It was reported in July that Messi made an estimated $1 million donation to the Israel. Soon after the news of his donation, Messi was said to be preparing a lawsuit against the “Le Competiteur†website which reported the claim.

Because Israel wants to keep Gaza as the big prison that it is now, so that the remaining 1M palestinaians living in that tiny area will finally die or leave.

It's funny how some bring the "terrotist attacks" up, if you add up the number of deaths due to that it won't even equal the number of Palestinians who died in the last Israeli "defensive" operation!

But also, Hamas movement was created in 1987, what did Israel do towards peace beofre that? nothing, except steal more land and kill more people.

And now not only the borders are closed, but Israel control EVERYTHING in Gaza! Can you believe that they even ban books and  chalk?!! they want people in Gaza to become terrorists.

Educate yourself. I'm sick of saying it. How come Israel is controlling everything in Gaza if Rafah borders with Egypt?

2,477 Israelis died in terror attacks as of 2012. Check your sources.

Shadow

It won't matter that much I mean people that already took a side in this matter will stay with their opinion. However the ones that wanna be informed can do so through different posts from both sides and decide for themselves what they wanna believe.

Just like in real life, nobody is gonna win this debate.

What if you're one of those elevated individuals who don't take sides and sees everyone as human beings whether Jew or Gentile, specifically Palestinian in this case?

The back and forth is started by governing agencies and funded by corporate interests, when the war itself ends up killing innocents the most on both sides.

Think about all the corporations that profit from war. If there was only a way to boycott them somehow...

Stand in the light, cast your shadow.

The borders with Egypt are also closed most of the time, look it up!

the only time it was open was between 2011-2013 before the coup d'état in Egypt.

And what are your sources?
