Celina 118
you're not alone, i'm sure. gaga states that ARTPOP "could mean anything" as an excuse for her, the creator of this concept, to not know what it means. I have to disagree. IMO that's the phrase that makes the most sense. She, as the "creator" of her work, is open to possibilities, and she doesn't try to fit a mold when creating. She's free. Cersei 56
ARTPOP has been lost in translation everything about it is a mess but music not the bling it's Gaga's worst album imo - can't wait for this era to be done. Truth tea.
Sugarfall 3,723
I read somewhere that Gaga uses Mary Magdalene as a reference for her. Mary lived a private life with Jesus but was also this holy figure. So Gaga is a regular person but also has this crazy public side to her. I think I read this on GagaPedia. Truth tea. It's not Gaga's fault you haven't bothered to a--lyse ARTPOP properly... it makes perfect sense to me and many other fans
No Angel 128
Gaga doesn't even know what it's about anymore, tbh.
Sugarfall 3,723
Here's a quote from Gaga about Bloody Mary, I find it quite fascinating actually http://ladygaga.wikia.com/wiki/Bloody_Mary_(song)

She, as the "creator" of her work, is open to possibilities, and she doesn't try to fit a mold when creating. She's free. i don't know, i know that the whole concept of ARTPOP is supposed to be about possibilities, but i have yet to see her explain any interpretation of the concept that doesn't scream "i have no idea what i'm talking about"

LibraLove 1,279
Album = Pure pop. The music is pop music through and through. From the lyrics to the production style, it stays true to her pop music roots. Outside of the album (outfits that emulated works of arts, styles that emulated known artists, her talks, her performances, the album artwork and collaborations she's had with artists) sum up the Art aspect of the album. It's really not that hard to see or understand if you just WATCH her. I got this from the get-go and never understood how it just flew over a lot of "fan's" heads. Mr Josh 3
Well the main point of ARTPOP wasn't just the music, it was more like a project. She collaborated with many great artists (Jeff Koons, Marina Abramovic) , artists that a significance of her fanbase had never heard before. The 'reverse warholian experience' she constantly talked about is exactly what she tried to achieve, make art even more accessible, bring it to the masses in a way. I get a feeling that she abandoned the whole idea right after the album release though. The album is just great pop music.
Wootan 0
The first time Gaga really talked about ARTPOP, it was supposed to have no specific theme. Then, LMs started to whine about that and suddenly, a few weeks later, she gave it a theme. Honestly, I think Gaga put all her feelings in this album, and she gave it a meaning afterwards
