gagaisitalian 3,573
I don't think it's an ad for rape. But giving consent for a doctor to sedate you isn't giving him consent to **** you omfg.
Haldy 1,258
She was unconscious by choice, so her vagina was for open use? I'll remember that rule next time I sleep by choice.
agustina0407 0
I think the video is an ad for rape, actually. It's not her intention at all, but videos never have one only interpretation. She wanted to make a video criticizing the press but the result was not clear about it. When you have a director who was accused of rape taking pictures of you naked, a singer who was accused of rape d--gging you and playing with your body while you're unconscious all while singing to them "do what you want with my body", I think that seeing that as glamorizing rape is a possible read of the video. Of course, Gaga knew that the message she was delivering was not the one she was wanting to and that's why she hide it. I think she made the right choice but it was too late because it will eventually leak in full and will hurt her image.
Shu Rin 64
It isn't an ad for rape. People are being delusional as usual. Nothing new on GGD. This! People need to stop making assumptions of the video when we have only seen clips. You all are clinging to that ONE scene with R. Kelly than the others we've seen. The Earth remembers, the stones remember. If you know how to listen, they will tell you many things.
Born To Slay 10,996
I think people have forgotten that neither R. Kelly or Terry Richardson were ever actually found guilty for any charges against them. 1. A jury of R. Kelly's peers found him not-guilty in a fair trial. He was never proven guilty therefore if Gaga didnt work with him because of the trial then she'd be discriminating against people falsely accused of raping others and there are people who were. I think that's a reason why he was on the song tbh, he's innocent but the media trashes. His life goes well with DWUW 2. Terry Richardson has very little evidence against him, a few models trashed while some of his other clients spoke very favorably of him. So these two men as far as you know or can prove are both innocent.
Whispering 18,865
Yeah. Actually yeah. (Plus the lyrics make more sense) But when you say "do what u want with my body" with two alleged rapists... Come on. You're not daft. "Do what you want with my body" gives consent. Rape is a different story. Gaga is well past the age of consent and she is verbally giving another adult permission to do what they want with her body. That's not rape.

Ladle Ghoulash 24,601
But, it's metaphorical/symbolic. She's basically saying the media metaphorically rapes celebrities, but she's not going to let it break her. We have forgotten our public MANNERS
ramamama 0
Art is art, and if Lady Gaga wants to express herself with an "ad for rape" then she should be able to!!
Whispering 18,865
When exactly in the video snippet, that we all saw, did R. Kelly say this and when did Gaga say yes to s-x? Post a link to the video and please point out the exact moment that R. Kelly said "if you want to walk again, then you will have to have s-x with me". So these two men as far as you know or can prove are both innocent. To start with, R. Kelly married Aaliyah when she was 15. Then in 1998, he settled with a woman who alleged that he had s-x with her when she was 15 and he was 24. So he already married someone underage and settled for an underage s-x charge. And that's not even touching the famous case.
ryhanna 3,507
Uh, giving consent to be put unconscious and giving consent for someone to have s-x with you WHILE unconscious are two very different things. Not to mention that her co-stars, R. Kelly and Terry Richardson, are both alleged rapists or predators. So the music video depicts an alleged rapist putting Gaga under anesthesia and seemingly taking advantage of her, and a naked Gaga being photographed by Terry Richardson while flailing about on the ground and in s-xual poses. Not to mention, R. Kelly's line later in the song "do what I want with your body" makes it more disturbing. Sure, it may have been intended as a metaphor between the toxic nature of the relationship between the media and celebrities, but you'd have to blind not to see how it comes across and it's clearly the reason that the video wasn't released. Post a link to the video and please point out the exact moment that R. Kelly said "if you want to walk again, then you will have to have s-x with me". The article that called this video an "ad for rape" came out RIGHT before the leak (which is super bizarre because you know MORE places than just TMZ have it if Page Six was releasing rumors about it yesterday). It refers to this section that wasn't in the :33 second teaser : According to the reports, Gaga asked Kelly, “Will I ever be able to walk again?†and he replied, “Yes, if you let me do whatever I want with your body. I’m putting you under, and when you wake up, you’re going to be pregnant.†But even if that didn't exist. YOU'RE STILL FEATURING ALLEGED RAPISTS IN A MUSIC VIDEO ABOUT SEX AND RELINQUISHING CONTROL. It's just so... insensitive. It makes her look terrible. She's cultivated an image of caring about people and being strong and doing the right thing and being compassionate... and then works with two notorious alleged s-xual predators. At best, it makes her look stupid and desperate. At worst, it makes her look like she's trivializing victims.
Larkin 100
It might not be rape in the non-consensual way but if you disregard the known meaning of the song, the lyrics and video make it seem like she is allowing herself to be used as a s-x object. I think if she was going to stick with the song's official meaning that she should have abandoned the s-xual theme. It is disturbing and makes people uncomfortable. I believe that Gaga should push boundaries but she should be empowering women, not encouraging them to allow themselves to be objectified. This is the way I see it anyway. I can understand that this is a way for them to hit back at the media but Gaga needs to look at herself and wonder why she is allowing 2 perverts to use her as a way to get their message across. Thank you. This is what I meant about "arguing semantics". Yes, she can be giving consent through the lines "do what you want with my body", but consent doesn't really work that way. Consent is an ongoing thing, it's not finite. The moment she is unconscious, she can no longer give consent. Plus, we can not ignore the people who she is working with. These are people who are notorious for allegations of s-xual assault. She should have never touched this.
