Benji 20,113
You all forget she released it at Easter, anyone who thought she was an attention seeker got their theory proved pretty quickly I personally think if she made a stronger 'comeback' album it would have all been forgotten but she hasn't been interesting to the public since Born This Way unless you include her stupid twitter lashings of fans and other celebrities. Blue Jeans 3,815
Not my old ass thread making a comeback Destiny is for losers. It’s just a stupid excuse to wait for things to happen instead of making them happen
Guest
Maybe for most of us Judas is a mistake but not for me. I love that song, all my friends know and love it. The MV, the choreography, the outfits, the performances are iconic.
MonsterRocket 55
The whole concept we're discussing has nothing to do with Judas. The controversy factor is always a 'good' thing in this industry. There's no good or bad press. Look at Miley Cyrus; so many people think she's just an attention seeker, and yet has hit singles such as wrecking ball. What happened is that after the BTW era Gaga just lost some power. Some say it's because the GP can get tired easily, others say that she lost some of her essencial surprise factor, others that the creative direction change went wrong... who knows exactly. But what we can be sure about, Judas is not the reason. It is in fact a very catchy song, and if well managed (the video was good but it could have gone further) it could have been a smash. I personally don't even see the controversy on the actual video...
SychosSoChic 9,995
but... lorde made her debut in 2013? Yeah sure I know that NOW, back in June I didn't. Completely forgot about this thread too Life ain't Hollywood for any one of us.
Pandora 162
Judas is pop perfection, though. Bitches stay hating :later:
GagaXCupcakke 3,818
Loved the music video, I wasn't a super fan back then so I wasn't aware of the backlash
Saint Laurent 4,862
Judas is one of the best songs on BTW and she didn't do the wrong thing by releasing it. Amazing video, good performances, amazing song. Why should it not have been released?

brizoda 3,980
It's interesting that ever since Judas...her career hasn't been the same...BTW and everything before did so well...Judas was a very catchy song, but people were afraid to like AND offended at the same time...it was way to controversial. The singles after did ok, but she's never had a #1 since Judas became a single. That tells me something even with Applause, DWUW, and G.U.Y....she can never catch a break. People just look at her now as a gimmick who wants to shock people, yet people don't seem to mind when Miley does it...like...what kind of double standard world is this... the problems of Judas is that it had a noisy/aggresive sound people in general dislike unconventional individuals like Gaga
monketsharona 85,775
Judas has a great and successful video, that's why I have no regret about it as a single
Jesse Pinkman 4,660
I remember when I shows my mom Judas on SNL. She said she really liked it until she started to listen to the lyrics. She made me turn it off and called her demonic or something lol. It didn't help that I showed her the next day which was a Sunday I also hated Judas when I first heard it, I thought she was demonic too. Then the video premiered and it became my favorite video of hers (to this day), and now if some of my favorite songs. It's science, bitch
PopBitch 1,218
Well maybe it was a mistake, but she didn't get much backlash in Europe/Asia etc. i think it was just in the USA ?Just because she released the music video at Easter, trying to be all controversial it seemed like and eyeroll worthy. People were really dogging her for trying to shock like Madonna, which is what that music video at Easter came off as.U2 just put a song on their album that many say is about a pedophile priest, Sleep Like a Baby Tonight, very subtle in the lyrics, but it's there. The thing is they didn't make a thing of it like releasing a music video over a religious holiday. Gaga was just coming off like she wanted controversy by releasing a music video for the song around Easter. It was a turnoff that Gaga did that. That didn't destroy her momentum careerwise. There were many things all added up together or even separately for people that lost interest.
Azor Ahai 18,861
This only happened in US , no one in Europe cares about the lyrics of songs espesially english ones.
brizoda 3,980
When she released Judas as the next single from Born This Way, I almost left her. I'm Roman Catholic you see? The beat is okay and stuff but the lyrics are really offending. She should have made the song titled 'Lucas' for Luc Carl. "I wanna love you but something's pulling me away from you..... LUCASSS, LUCA-AAAAASSSSS" Judas was a mockering of religion
