Her image is not the same like it was a couple of years back. BTW ruined it. But honestly, that's why I like her. She took a big risk and that's admirable. Over the scrutiny she received over BTW + ARTPOP eras & falling in love, she's just trying to be happy and not focus on stuff. It's not about the money to her. When you've been #1 and top of the world and fall in love - I'm sure it changes your perception. She's already had it all. She has it all. She's won it all. It's not about the charts anymore. And if you are "embarrassed" to like Gaga, then quit looking to others for validation. You can never be embarrassed if your validation simply comes from internal sources. Liking Lady Gaga is considered embarrassing. Enough to put her tour in the top 10 tours for the year. Enough to put her in the top 10 albums WW in 2013. Enough to give her a double platinum and platinum single in the US. It may not be like it was four or five years ago, when she was the new thing, but that doesn't mean that no one cares about her. I just went to a concert with 11,000+ other people who stood up the entire show and screamed the words to every single song! I stood in line for a T shirt for a long time and watched hundreds of people shell out tons of money for merchandise. These people didn't seemed embarrassed in any way, nor are the other 775,000 plus people who will be attending her concerts over the course of the next few months. Or if the space performance is still happening, the first single will be timed with that. I really do believe that Gaga learned from her mistakes in the ARTPOP era, and I think that this next era is going to be super well planned out. HOWEVER It doesn't really matter if Gaga can "afford" a break. She's under contract to do another album, and regardless of whether it smashes or flops, I'm pretty sure that after the next album cycle Gaga is going to take an indefinite break for marriage and kids. She has created a strong brand enough for her to not easily be forgotten just because of yet another long break away from the public eye (i.e. a span of a year and a half). And besides, it isn't the length of a break that's the most crucial to one's commercial career. It's the material which one is selling to the public. Time and time again, history has shown an artist deemed to be "fading" coming back with a new life in the mainstream, from Mariah Carey to Britney Spears and now Pharrell Williams. If there's no ACT 2 expect another blackout after the tour, probably one that lasts longer than the first one. If she comes back with a good song with good promotion and good everything else, then it will succeed. Like I don't understand where yall are coming from with this "make or break" stuff... What are you basing that off of? Same here. I honestly find that "make or break" stuff, especially when it comes to music and promotion, to be nothing but an excuse to exaggerate on relatively trivial things. "Make or break" situations are generally reserved to those artists who are up-and-coming. Their debut singles are the ones that can "make or break" them. A pop star like Gaga who has sold a hundred million of records could hardly be cornered in that kind of stuff, specifically if we're talking about selling and promoting music. She can release a new album next week or even the next decade, and if the music is still not well-crafted and its promotion isn't well executed, it would hardly make a difference. I guess something didn't go right, but Aura got heaps of attention. I heard it more times on the radio than Applause in the first week of Applause being released So, I think with the right song it could've happened.
