Being honest, a TON of employers hire illegals in the country. And on top of filled just spots where a citizen could have paid ALL their taxes (like they've been doing their whole lives!), illegals drive down prices for the entire industry. It's completely irrelevant that they take physical labor jobs and not white collar jobs because they lack skills/talents that are employable; MOST income in this country is coming from blue-collar jobs. That means physical labor!

I'm sorry, but to say illegal immigrants don't take jobs away from American citizens is so ignorant it makes my brain hurt. There are an estimated (at least) 8.2 illegal immigrants in the workforce at this moment who pay no taxes to the government. Plus, the areas where illegal immigration is running the most rampant (on the border, go figure), that state economics greatly suffer from it. Illegals however do not hold the majority of the jobs in any one industry though. Every industry is mostly comprised of working class american citizens. This alone is proof than real Americans WANT those jobs and are actively out looking for them! I have a feeling that you are stereotyping the average American's will to work those laborious jobs. Say what you will about America, but we have to strongest workforce in the world by far, and that's why our GDP is going to stay the largest (by faaarrrrr) of any economy in the world for many, many years to come. Especially if you're comparing poverty levels, which our top(/only) competitor, China, will take over a century to match us in.

But the only way the US will continue to recover is if we crack down HARD on these criminals that already cost us (and ME!!) BILLIONS of dollars (That is not a made up number. I mean BILLIONS. Tens, possibly HUNDREDS of BILLIONS of dollars by recent estimates).

And on a per Capita basis the US is no where near the top. Its only in the top 20

So the US is not gonna be #1 in terms of GDP wealth in either way you look at it "for many many years to come" as you claim

In any case I agree with what you say about immigrants blue collar jobs. Construction and blue-collar jobs actually pay more in Canada than in the US. And that was already the case even in 2005 and 2006 at the peak of the boom when the US economy had a bigger housing boom and over-all stronger economy and lower unemoyment than we did

That may be a result of Canada not having as many illegal immigrants to exploit and offer low wages to the general pay to get enough workers therefore must be higher

I mean, the thing is, they ARE a financial burden on the US. Over a 100 billion a year goes to illegal immigrants. But (shocker), I understand where you're coming from. Yes, this is a huge issue, but can we stop demonizing these people? The way illegal immigrants are talked about, you'd think they're all mass murderers.

It's not like there's this huge conspiracy of people saying "Hehe, I'm gonna **** over the US and make MJHolland pay more taxes". No. These people are desperate and are trying to do anything they can to be able to provide for their families. I can't feel anything but empathetic for them and grateful that I was born into a situation where I didn't need to go to such extremes to survive. 

 

The way to address this situation is not to be apathetic and bombastic. These are real people trying to improve their lives.

What you just said is true and I understand that... but how are they hurting us so much? At least they are working. I don't agree with them coming over and expecting the country to open them with open arms but why do so many people try to antagonize illegal immigrants like some plague that's destroying our country?

I'd rather live in an economy half the size of America's (with the same population) than live in China. At some point we have to be rational human beings and say that China's GDP is completely irrelevant as the country will continue to suffer as it holds billions of people in the grips of communism and corruption (along with poverty and starvation). So not really sweating it too much

Calling them criminals is technically correct, but to call them criminals with the amount of hate you seem to be putting into it is disgusting. 

Homos-xuals in some countries are also technically criminals for harming absolutely no one. If you think an immigrant breaking their back in the fields is hurting you by taking "REAL" American's jobs then I sympathize for you.

Please complain about paying taxes to keep REAL criminals like rapists and murderers housed in jails, but don't complain about your taxes going to an innocent child who's unfortunately growing up in poverty.

These people are coming to America because of one reason; it is better than their home country, for whatever reason. They come here searching for opportunities, and I think that their contributions to American society are part of what makes us great. When done legally. Don't act like the legal channels don't exist. The US still continues to have the largest immigrant population and immigration rate just by legal channels. That can be a great thing. But when these people try to come into the country, for whatever reason, in the numbers they are doing right now, they are and will continue to destroy the US. That's not an exaggeration, that's a really. If it wasn't a reality, I'd be completely open to all the immigrants out there! I'd welcome them with open arms!

 

But that's not the world we live in. Illegal immigration is easily one of the top, if not THE top domestic crisis this country is facing this very second. Over a hundred B-I-L-L-I-O-N dollars is being ripped out of our already struggling economy. Does that not terrify anyone else?! And it's not that I'm trying to play up "REAL" americans having their jobs taken away to be given to another person from another country. It has nothing to do with patriotism. It has everything to do with the fact that illegals work for cents. That in turn drives down the wages of all the other workers in that direct field because they could easily be replaced with illegal workers.

 

It doesn't matter how hard they are working "in the fields". It doesn't matter if they intend to throw the US into economic turmoil. If they keep crossing the border that the accelerated rate they are right now, there will no longer be a safe-haven for a land of opportunity for the law-abiding immigrants to go to. Both the families I come from immigrated to the US through legal channel. It can be done. It is done now more than ever before! And it's not like the US is the only stable country to go to!!

 

Just think: how many American boys and girls are hungry RIGHT NOW because their parents both lost their jobs and couldn't find work, say in Arizona, because of the effects of illegal immigration. I'm not even defending my own money being taxed; I'm financially secure enough that I don't need to worry about my future when it comes to taxes. What I AM worried for are he millions of americans that will be hit by the economic depression that illegal immigrants will bring the US down the road, especially for my children and grandchildren.

Doesn't matter if it was a long time ago or just a couple of generations ago, the reasons and desires of the individuals are all the same. The immigration system is a MESS. People have to wait  10 years to get in here legally. You think a starving family who can't find jobs in their country can wait 10 YEARS? You cannot be serious. And European immigrants from a century ago came in masses because the state of the country was different. They came here legally because there was opportunity. Most immigrants who cross illegally have to pass through the Mexican border where many have died trying to get in this country. You can't even compare the two situations.

Omg this. I saw this on the news a couple of months ago. Too bad they are taking jobs from REAL Americans to provide us with the food that goes down our throats.
