MahoganySnitch 67
This will be another mess of a thread. I had no idea the other one closed. In regards to this article, this is horrendous. You don't just take someone's asthma medication. Nor do you s-xually abuse them while in custody. I'm sorry, but none of this should be seen as "OK" based on immigration status. theMonster5 74
The media in Latin American countries should report these so people will not think that the U.S. is paved with gold. Then we will have less problem with illegal immigrants crossing our border and cramming our school system which cost $10K/year per student. The illegals deserved to be deported in a safe and orderly manner back to their country, but too many are coming so it's very hard to handle properly. 90K more undocumented children will try to cross our border illegally this year. We Americans can't support these much illegals since some of our schools and hospitals are already underfunded.

theMonster5 74
Each kid in public school costs $10k a year? That's correct, but in New York state they spend around $19K/year per public school student. The illegal immigrants can not be turned away from public schools, since all public schools are required to educate all kids, regardless of immigration status. To enroll in school, the undocumented parents just have to show a rent or utility bill, so the illegal students are eating up the taxpayers' money. Read about the federal law that require states to enroll illegal students. Check the stats here Check another stats here

And FICA takes out a certain percentages from paychecks belonging to workers regardless of a legit SSN, which the government keeps anyway while the worker in question will never get to use that as a pension past the age of 65. And schools are paid for every student enrolled, regardless of immigration status. Immigrants can and do pay taxes, as can be done via an ITIN number instead of a SSN for IRS purposes. There is money flowing in and out of the cycle, but the imbalance is definitely worthy of attention.

Adakam 2
Or between steps 3 and 4, Manuel could have looked for a better job in his own country... or tell his kids to study their a**es off so they don't end up like him... or he could have taken advantage of the public education he had, leading to a better career path... or he could have done what any responsible adult does and make sure he is economically secure enough to have children in the first place. "Manuel" represents adults, and all adults are responsible for themselves first, then their families. And if they can't be responsible for themselves first but they make families anyways, then those kids will carry that extra burden too. This applies everywhere, even in the US. It is a tragic situation and unfortunately a cycle, but it doesn't warrant anarchy. it aint that simple, because there might be other stuff to consider: first, the minimum wage here in mexico is 6 dollars for a whole day of work, while in the US its more than 10 dollars for 1 hour, so poverty in the US is insanely better than poverty in Mexico, combine that with the lack of schools in those areas, with awful education because teaching is horribly paid, and you have a society full of misinformation and ignorance. then, in MOST cases, the families have nothing to do with the border crossings, because its a huge criminal business here to reach out to those poor people, ask them for some money that will "save them or their children" and ensure a safe crossing and a job on the other side to have a better chance, thats why there are so many doing it, because there are people making money out of it, how else would they get organized in groups and stuff? they dont do it on their own now dont get me wrong, my way of thinking is totally on the side that no matter where you are born and your situation if you want to succeed you can do it, but its not that simple all im saying is, consider that there is something more to this, the families are mostly victims of misinformation and criminal promises
