Did they just think that they could walk through the border and be greeted with a freaking Ritz Carlton?! Do they expect the US to accommodate them while they try to perform a serious crime and make sure they aren't too cramped and have a nice pillow to sleep on, even though they've never paid a cent like the rest of us tax payers?! Trust me, nobody is expecting that "Serious crime"....is this really a serious crime to you? I'd hate to see what you classify murder, rape, and domestic violence as then. Surely they're not "serious crimes" because then you'd be putting them into the same category as crossing over illegally Most of them just come here to work and are "paying" in something many Americans would never even consider; physical labor. And before you all throw out the "well they're just living off our taxes with welfare"; 38.8% of recipients are white who I assume are already citizens. Homework Secondly, the vast majority of Americans are working class, most of them blue-collar jobs. They do, however, pay in a way illegals don't; taxes! So let me get this straight; these people (1) don't pay any taxes to the government, (2) are looking to take the jobs of tax-paying americans that will contribute to our society here, (3) and are attempting a serious crime, BUT they want the government to use my/our tax-payer's money incase they get caught and the children they subjected to extremely dangerous travel have to sleep in a holding cell????!!!!!! Instead of putting those dollars towards MY children's education after I PAID my lifetime's hard earned money?! And while we're already paying BILLIONS for a countless number of them to live here?! AND while we try to solve the problems connected to environmental destruction and economic instability created and fostered by the population spike due to illegal immigration?! Most places don't even hire illegals. And most of the work they do is hard physical labor. Being honest, a TON of employers hire illegals in the country. And on top of filled just spots where a citizen could have paid ALL their taxes (like they've been doing their whole lives!), illegals drive down prices for the entire industry. It's completely irrelevant that they take physical labor jobs and not white collar jobs because they lack skills/talents that are employable; MOST income in this country is coming from blue-collar jobs. That means physical labor! I'm sorry, but to say illegal immigrants don't take jobs away from American citizens is so ignorant it makes my brain hurt. There are an estimated (at least) 8.2 illegal immigrants in the workforce at this moment who pay no taxes to the government. Plus, the areas where illegal immigration is running the most rampant (on the border, go figure), that state economics greatly suffer from it. Illegals however do not hold the majority of the jobs in any one industry though. Every industry is mostly comprised of working class american citizens. This alone is proof than real Americans WANT those jobs and are actively out looking for them! I have a feeling that you are stereotyping the average American's will to work those laborious jobs. Say what you will about America, but we have to strongest workforce in the world by far, and that's why our GDP is going to stay the largest (by faaarrrrr) of any economy in the world for many, many years to come. Especially if you're comparing poverty levels, which our top(/only) competitor, China, will take over a century to match us in. But the only way the US will continue to recover is if we crack down HARD on these criminals that already cost us (and ME!!) BILLIONS of dollars (That is not a made up number. I mean BILLIONS. I mean, the thing is, they ARE a financial burden on the US. Over a 100 billion a year goes to illegal immigrants. But (shocker), I understand where you're coming from. Yes, this is a huge issue, but can we stop demonizing these people? The way illegal immigrants are talked about, you'd think they're all mass murderers. I am not totally ignorant on the economic strain they put on the country... but at least they are working to help their families in their native countries. I don't even think many Americans are aware of the struggles in other countries. If you think an immigrant breaking their back in the fields is hurting you by taking "REAL" American's jobs then I sympathize for you. Please complain about paying taxes to keep REAL criminals like rapists and murderers housed in jails, but don't complain about your taxes going to an innocent child who's unfortunately growing up in poverty.
