thefamefatale 264
4 million albums sold and 2 of her 3 best selling singles ever. That's pretty dame successful. I'm not saying it wasn't successful in general, but compared to TFM and BTW it isn't. TFM is the one with the diamond certified single, the 235-date sold out tour, 3 Grammys, and 11 VMA's. BTW is the one that sold 2 million worldwide in a week, had the fastest selling song to go #1 (at the time), 1.1 in the U.S., blah blah. $135 million dollar tour with like 70 shows. Countless awards. It only got better from The Fame. It just makes me a little angry when people say BTW or TFM was less successful than TF like no lol. Is anyone still pressed that Born This Way didn't win at least one Grammy? I'm not saying this from a delusional fan's perspective, but I still think that the album, as a whole, did so much for society and it started a cultural movement. It represents so much about what's important in politics and society in this era, and commercially, it was still a success despite several singles underperforming. Ugh, the Grammy Academy really made a wrong choice on this one. Mark my words, years from now people would still be comparing her work to Born This Way. It's Gaga's fault for refusing to submit BTW for SOTY or ROTY.. she submitted You and I instead (you probably knew that). Still pressed about THAT, per say. don't be a drag
GagaSlayedYou 2
BTW is a flop? I remember when this place was GagaDaily, and not the KatyCatsDaily mess.

TFM was an extended play. And BTW has sold 8 million and it came out 3 years later. Also TF had more singles than TFM. And okay, congrats. Your original argument was that it was OVERALL MORE SUCCESSFUL than her next two albums, and if your only support to back that up is that it sold more "singles and albums", which I already proved is irrelevant due to time, then I guess it wasn't more successful then. don't be a drag

The Fame may have been out longer but all 3 are dead on all the charts so, it's VERY unlikely The Fame will be passed. And if you want to do that, lets compare the first 3 singles from both eras. The Fame: Just Dance 6.9m Poker Face 7.1m Love Game 2.5m The Fame Monster: Bad Romance 5.5m Telephone 3.3m Alejandro 2.5m And no, don't say it's been out longer because that doesn't matter. Bad Romance isn't just gonna randomly sell 1.4m when it's dead on the charts, Poker Face has over twice the sales of Telephone and Alejandro tied Love Game. The first two aren't gonna catch up and BTW these songs came out like a year later.
MahoTheMnstr 141
Katy's image is more indicative of an "American Sweetheart" whereas Gaga's image is more artsy, experimental, and provocative, which makes some people uncomfortable. Therefore, she's a bigger target for criticism. this
CatelynnMarie 4,406
It's because it's Gaga. The gp/ media don't understand Gaga as a performer/artist/pop star. Katy on the other hand is extremely relatable and is shoved down the gp's throats. Gaga does her own thing and just cares about her vision becoming a reality within her music/ videos/ fashion no matter how "ridiculous", "crazy", or "confusing" it is to others. To the gp, they would rather hear a song/ see a video that they can easily understand rather than something that is completely insane, complex, and risqué to them. I hear all the time that Gaga is just some floppy crazy b---h who had her 15 minutes of fame blah blah blah and it's mainly due to the misunderstandings. At least, this is what I feel and believe. lalla 0
The BTW era was dubbed as a flop because: 1. Album sales were high only in the first week (because gaga came from her peak era so the hype was huge at the beginning) 2. Most people especially the general public were disappointed by the new sound of the album (BTW album didn't sound fresh and cutting edge like The Fame-Fame Monster but outdated ) that's why it tanked after just one month 3. Her new look and image was not cool anymore: too dark and weird for the general public. Those ugly fake implants on her cheeks and body…Unfortunately the hot, brave, cool Gaga of the Fame era had disappeared. 4. Her image as original and innovative artist was destroyed by the Madonna-Express Yourself-Born this way comparison. From that moment for the people she became "Lady CopyGa"- "madonna wannabe". Things got worse when she denied copying Express yourself and lied about Madonna's e-mail where madonna supposedly said she was ok with that song. That was a huge lie: Madonna didn't send any e-mail to gaga and Madonna was instead so pissed off with BTW-Express yourself copy that she exposed Gaga's rip-off during her MDNA tour (Btw-Express yourself-she's not me mashup) and the news hit the headlines worldwide 4. The singles off the BTW album underperformed. Just BTW single really smashed and had an impact 5. The BTWBALL tour was too dark, dance routines and choreographies were not as good as in the FameMonster ball and I personally hated that castle! It was visually too static. Compare the background in the Mdna tour and in the BTWball tour and you'll see the difference. Huge screens with amazing videos do make the difference in live shows Ok…it's clear that I miss the Fame Monster Gaga so much
