Why does Mary Jane Holland fall flat?

Do you find MJH forgettable/filler-esque?

I really like it, but I also think it is waaaay to crowded. There is too much noise. It would be much better with a clearer chorus and beat tbh.

It's extremely overrated. I really don't think it's the "highlight of the album," but everyone is entitled to their opinions, I suppose.

Please speak for yourself. It's one of my favorite tracks that she's ever done and a highlight on the album.

I know that Mom and Dad think I'm a mess

But it's alright, because
I am rich as piss
When I ignite the flames and put you in my mouth
The grass eats up my insides and my brunette starts to sprout

Introducing, ladies and gentleman, Mary Jane Holland!

One of my favorite parts of the entire album  :rockstar:

just because it was fighting against brooklyn nights for the spot doesn't exactly mean it's a filler

my guess is she was deciding which one was more ready for ARTPOP rather than act II, MJH is more of what i expect act II to be like.

no she said that Brooklyn Nights didn't make it because she wanted to work on it more before release. MJH is one of my favorite songs on the album - but it is by definition filler.

I always thought MJH was terribly underrated ... Until right about now. Didn't know there was so much love for it.

MJH sneaks up on you and turns out to be one of the best ****ing songs on the album.

The snippet SLAAAYED. I think it's just cause it's relatively the same throughout the same song. The beat never changes and it has the same elements throughout. Still one of my favs though :legend:

Disregard

It's the definition of just "okay" IMO. There's nothing that sets it apart and it's not even close to being seriously mentioned among Gaga's best. But the same is true of Dance in the Dark and everyone stans for that. I've simply come to the conclusion that my taste just doesn't match up with the majority of the fanbase.

It absolutely doesn't fall flat. It's my favourite song on the album. Honestly I've never really heard anyone say that it 'falls flat'.

Best song on the album (which I don't love) by far!

Now lets talk about the live performance though....
