It's unfair to just say "The music has dropped in quality"

To be quite honest, the people clinging the the sound, message and commercial success of The Fame Monster are bitter idiots, whom are latching on to something that ended over three years ago.

If you don't like ARTPOP or any of Gaga's current or future releases, you know where the ****ing door is. Go hide in your room and listen to The Fame Monster and remain in 2009 like the ignorant assholes that you are.

Again, develop with us and with Gaga, or let the **** go.

Goodbye.

TF and TFM were sonically more musical than BTW and ARTPOP. E.g. the intro/build-up chords to the first verse of Monster, very long and diverse synth riffs in DITD's intro, the guitars from The Fame etc.

There's dozens of genius touches on BTW and AP, I don't even know where to begin.

Yes there sure are dozens, I don't deny that. :dies:  Take Highway Unicorn for an example. It starts off with a soaring chorus, with majestic drum rolls and epic crashes, and then it sinks to almost silence, with just typical 4/4 dance kicks and just one synth that is almost, if not, repetitive. Now if this song followed the musical cohesiveness of TFM (for an example), the notes of the song would be more diverse. That's what I meant when I said "more musical".

Who said that?

I certainly think that you shouldn't be allowed to compare ARTPOP to her earlier work, given the only similarity between them is Gaga herself. I also think that you should;t be able to wrongly labels Gaga's recent work as of a lower standard than her earlier work, when that is most certainly not the case.

Incidentally, I completely agree with you on "Highway Unicorn". The sound is epic, and the songwriting doesn't quite match up to it. It's how I feel towards "Dance in the Dark" as well.

I was just thrown off by "more musical" because it's an incredibly broad and subjective point to make ;)

you said that and you said we were idiots.

And yes you should be allowed to compared them, and guess what people do.

Absolute bull****. The lyrics on ARTPOP are some of Gaga's best lyrics.

:toofunny: there are a couple songs that are written ok!

But mess @ your later posts claiming people can't compare to her older albums or say her quality has diminished.

Beyond delusional, tbh.

He has the write to opinion like everyone else on this forum... Just because you don't agree doesn't make him delusional. Very rude.

ARTPOP the song is her best song lyrically.

How can you compare albums that are so different, the only connection between them is Gaga herself. They aren't even the same genre of pop music. They are incomparable and therefore, it is 'delusional' to compare them.

'Clinging on to' and 'favouriting' are two completely different things. At least read the post thoroughly.

you're really condescending. It's basically saying the same thing. That people who like her old work and say it's better than her new are idiots and should leave. No, we're not gonna leave, and you can't dictate that. Punk ass kid get off my lawn

I mean, I totally get what you're saying. But here's the main reason why I think the album comes straight from her: When I listen to the album, and I scan across the various influences and sounds she was drawing from, I can't help but that think that no one (critics or fans) could have really expected or asked for music like this from her, for the most part.

In other words, if she was really going out of her way to please everyone, like you're suggesting, this isn't close to what the finished product would have sounded like. And if she really only had "chart-topping hit!!" in mind, half of these tracks wouldn't have made it past stage one.

I love that she draws from different influences, she always has tbh. But I think she played it safe and toned down her influences compared to what we had heard about ARTPOP and that snippet that was used a couple times, I think, during her septum piercing video. That was definitely a lot more abstract than what we got. I feel like she pulled back a bit after planning everything to try and squish it and mold it into a safer album.

The part about that is... Didn't Gaga say every song on AP was designed to be a hit?  :derpga: Because that's not the vibe I'm feeling. Maybe it is the way she hyped everything that let me down when I heard some of the songs.

Her music quality has been exactly like a Roller Coaster from start, up to its 1st drop.

The Fame was the start of the ride, creating new and different emotions in people, but nothing is defined yet.

The Fame Monster was the the climb, people see a new perspective and get a notion of how high she can go when it comes to music quality.

BTW was her peak, lyrically and musically but it gave a sense of uncertainty for some and too much CERTAINTY for others, when they looked down from up there.

ARTPOP is the drop, most enjoyed because of the sense of release it gives you but some others found unconfortable and scary with the sense of no control over the emotions!

I should be given an award for that metaphore!  :laughga:

The only way you can get some sort of consensus on which album is better than the other is by letting a neutral observer judge the music. Gaga fans will always have bias to a certain albums of course, personally i think ARTPOP is not as good compared to her previous work but that's just me.

There's only so many times that one artist could fetch from the Springsteen-Whitney well. Prince, Sade, ABBA, and Joan Jett (amongst others) are perfectly worthy places to draw from. And no matter how "safe" or "bold" her albums are, hopefully we can agree that Gaga's music goes placed that no other pop star of her ilk would even think about going, let alone attempt.

And to your second point, I have learned to take what Gaga says in stride when she is promoting her own work. Her own audience has trouble describing the work, I can't imagine what it's like for her lol. And I'm of the opinion that nearly every song is a hit, just not quite in the way that she means.
