heavyMetalGAGA 65
Speaks so much truth about the nonsense claims made about Gaga recently, like... Gaga's singles don't sell anymore and no one cares about them! Applause may not have been her biggest hit, but it went to #1 in 5 countries and top ten in a further 23 countries. It sold over 100,000 copies in countries like Canada, Japan, South Korea respectively and nearly 300,000 in the UK, three of these countries being major music markets. It went to #4 in the US, sold over 2.5 million, stayed in the top ten for around ten consecutive weeks, was a huge radio hit and is her overall 10th biggest song in the country. The official video for the single had 24 views of nearly 11 million worldwide and the video is nearing 170 million hits in less than a year and is set to be the first Gaga video to hit the 1 million likes meter on YouTube. It is her 7th most watched music video (and soon to be her 6th) and has between the views of much more successful songs like BTW and TEOG. Do What U Want, despite very limited promotion and no music video, went top 10 in 14 countries and #1 in a further 3 countries. The audio has ove 35 million views. G.U.Y, despite no promotion and no support from radio and having a music video lasting 11 minutes, has notched up nearly 43 million views in little over a month. Gaga's albums don't sell anymore and she can't sell without an amazon deal! ARTPOP had nowhere near the level of promotion that her previous albums had and the lead single wasn't even performed in major music markets and was limited almost completely to the US. After the lead single, Gaga all but became a recluse. Plus, this is her fourth release. Most artists tends to flag around this point. But selling around 2 million worldwide in six months is amazing for an album that didn't have hit singles and promotion like her previous eras. It debuted at #1 in 7 countries, three of which were huge music markets. And went top ten in every country except Hungary. She would have had even more #1's if Eminem's album and Celine Dion's album hadn't been released a week earlier in places in Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Italy, Ireland, New Zealand and Switzerland, where she would have gotten #1 otherwise. The average Rihanna album sells around 3 million and she isn't considered a flop. Bangerz also didn't sell as well and Miley was considered one of the biggest stars of 2013. No one's interested in Gaga's tours anymore! The Artrave may not be Gaga's biggest tour, but it's doing brilliant for supporting an album that sold what it did. Almost all her NA shows are close to sold out. She's only doing stadiums in Asia. And Europe continue to support her, with tickets selling even in places like Greece, which is still recovering from a financial crisis. Her first 5 UK gigs sold out in seconds, prompting a further 6 shows to be added and she's even doing 2 gigs in Scotland, which she never did before in her more successful days. Taylor Swift's album went platinum in the UK with 4 top ten singles and she only did 5 shows in London and Gaga's travelling the length and breadth of the UK with ten shows. It's estimated that she'll make over a million per date, and more in certain regions. Considering how expensive these tickets are, that's quite a feat to sell so many. Miley's tour doesn't have this level of demand and she was considered the It Girl of 2013 with no massive hit singles. Such an amazing read. John really gets Gaga and I'm so happy these two have such a wonderful relationship. Their SXSW interview is one of my favorites from her. This review just makes me so much more excited for my show on Sunday. This was my favorite part (which actually brought me to tears): Not that Gaga needs my defense, but I’m happy to offer it, and an explanation why: She is real. That’s right, the wigs, the egg, the masks, the warehouse’s worth of costumes, the camp-fest that is the “G.U.Y.†video, the applause, applause notwithstanding  yes. In five minutes with this woman you get much closer to something approaching a human being than with the large majority of the personality-challenged mannequins that pass as pop stars in 2014, whose primary job as best I can tell is to look and appear  to use a word popular among the Beyhive  “flawless.†Give me flaws. Give me “Swine.†And, throw in an actual emotion from time to time. Gaga is not afraid to show her ass, but she also works it off. I surprised her in Austin when I told her  off-camera  that at the end of the day, I thought she was “kind of a conservative.†She laughed. “You just may be the first person who has ever called me that,†she said. What I meant is that she works hard  very hard  with a profoundly traditional work ethic born of doing it herself, because that’s the only way she make it happen in those LES days when she was left to sink or swim. high heeled fem 3
How many musicians can you name who have mounted three entirely different stage shows in the past three months? I can think of exactly one: the tireless Lady Gaga and there you have it! she is amazing
MonsterMum 2,532
So happy about this review, I think it sums up everything we feel towards Gaga, the flaws, the humanist, the "weird"ness and the passion :emo:
