I only assumed your post was directed at me, because I did in fact start the thread. Assuming you are going to the artRAVE I do hope you have an amazing time and that it can somewhat make up for the cancelled BTWB dates. :) I didn't mean for you to feel attached 😆I'm sorry about that. Born This Way actually felt out of place to me at the show, but I know she didn't want to pay dust to the album. I am glad you at least enjoyed her energy and performing! It was my favorite of all of her tours, but everyone's entitled to their own opinion. :) Thanks! Yeah, I definitely enjoyed it, I just found The Monster Ball to be overall better. wahljennifer322 30 Posted May 7, 2014 Share Posted May 7, 2014 I am going in 11 days and am so excited and I have no complaints about the songs on the setlist - would I change the order of them, probably but its not my show, it's Gaga's show. And, to play Aura first, Applause last, G.U.Y. as encore is easy and "expected". Aura is the perfect opening song on the album and I thought it would be perfect to open the show with as well, but the unexpected ARTPOP as the opening song is actually even better, and most people did not expect that. It's the beginning of the G.U.Y. video, its her rising, its her saying ARTPOP could be anything, just like the show. Plus, it gets the slower song and title track out of the way as to not disrupt the faster pace songs for the "rave". Most people expect Applause for the last song, whether it be the final before the encore or the encore itself. Did she put it there? Nope, unexpected again. G.U.Y. is the current single, typically a current single or the biggest hit is the final song if you look at general concert formulas. She did it as the second song. Unexpected. What I am getting at is the beauty of this "mess of a setlist" as some people would call it is that it is UNEXPECTED. Gaga always try to do the unexpected. Always surprising us. Isn't that what keeps people talking? What keeps people coming back? While I am not complaining about more BTW songs not making the setlist, I will say that I am surprised there weren't at least 2 and I am surprised that BTW is done acoustically (while amazing) because it actually is a great dance song. I am only surprised because of the tour cancellation last year. That is the only reason why. But I suppose, if I go back to what I stated above, not including more BTW songs is . . . totally unexpected. Totally a Gaga move. Unexpected. melodichard 3,757 Posted May 7, 2014 Share Posted May 7, 2014 The only real complaint I have to make (so far, and I didn't attend - not going until she comes to Cleveland!) is that the opening track being ARTPOP is kind of weak, especially after getting everyone hyped lol. Before you run your mouth you should go back and read my posts to understand my reasoning. Obviously this is not a Born This Way concert; I was not asking for, nor expecting that. I was expecting her to give it fair representation at the concert similar to how she treated The Fame and The Fame Monster. If it makes you feel better, I'm sorry you came back as well if that's all you have to contribute. I actually agree about TEOG not being there. I disagree with everything else. For the most part the order is irrelevant to me, except certain songs have a logical placement. Plus, I also wouldn't complain if the order did tell a story. BTW acoustic works better than the studio since it's her ballad of the night with Dope not being performed (sorry not sorry, we've had plenty of Dope before the tour). Previous eras-wise, TEOG is my only surprise, in fact I thought Alejandro would get the chop too. Donatella should be shortened... MJH, meh. Swine is a surprise at being shortened, I hoped for the opposite and she'd go for the longer version that leaked before the album did since it builds up so well. Fashion! has a changed up style, it does the job. Order-wise, I agree ARTPOP is very sloooowwww and not exciting to open the show with, though the song deserves a central role. Applause should be the encore after Gypsy or the finale before the encore of Gypsy, Swine can come before it. My two cents. Still going to the show.
