I get that people have been unnecessarily critical to the point of being pedantic, but I thought you explained your point perfectly well. JazzGa 14,514 Posted May 7, 2014 Share Posted May 7, 2014 I agree, I try really hard to not be "that stan" who is always complaining and saying "well she should have done it this way instead," etc. But I feel a lot less disappointed about being unable to attend artRave after seeing it. I understand that this is a smaller-scale production because of her injury last year, tons of staff changes, etc, and I'm hoping her next era will run smoother and that will result in a more spectacular show. She's still leagues above everyone else though. I cringe so hard and want to barf a little every time gurl picks up a guitar. Like, no, honey, put it down, you have many MANY incredible talents but guitar isn't one of them. WHERE THE EFF IS HER PIANO??? How can she have a tour without a piano just just... :c She really nails the drums during Swine though! But she really can't play guitar. Was also really underwhelmed by Swine!! It's been the centerpiece of her performances at SXSW and SwineFest so I was expecting something extravagant, especially when I saw from the setlist that it's one of the last performances. Also, she sang Cake, which is a massive cringe in and of itself, but the fact that she forewent Dope for Cake.... And Jewels n Drugs without the rappers is just PARTYNAUSEOUS made up for that though. As far as the setlist, I agree it could use revision however during the June Break i theorize she will be releasing ACT II of ARTPOP, so the setlist will probably be revamped. I obviously realize this tour is to support ARTPOP, but performed 3 out of 8 songs from The Fame Monster. And yet she performed 1 out of 17 from Born This Way? And it was only an acoustic version? It's asinine. The fact is her TF and TFM hits are more famous than her BTW singles (for the GP) In 10 years you can be sure she's going to play it again. I feel sorry you feel let down for this. Same **** happened with TFM, everyone held onto it for dear life during the BTW Era. It's over, she doesn't have to perform anything from that album if she doesn't want to. Has it ever occurred to any of you here that maybe performing songs from that album possibly bring up painful memories? Of course that didn't cause you're too hard getting turned on to the idea of her performing The Edge of Glory and You and I. Seriously, suck it up. Stop b---hing and just enjoy it for once. Also, don't pull that **** that your date got canceled. So did mine, both of mine, the day before my concert. So don't even go there with me. It is clear to everyone that the Born This Way Ball as well as the era has long since passed; that is not the issue here. I love ARTPOP and have embraced this era wholeheartedly and am by no means "holding on to it for dear life." You are correct - it's her choice to perform the songs she wants. It's my choice to be satisfied with her choice. I actually have considered the point you brought up. She has stated several times that that time of her life was dark. But so was The Fame Monster. I'm not getting "too turned on" by the idea of her performing these songs, I just feel like the setlist, and therefore the show would be better if Born This Way was better represented. However, your post is quite hateful. Don't tell me to stop b---hing. I am not b---hing. I am constructively critiquing my experience of the show. I found other flaws in it as well, but this is what seriously disappointed me. And don't imply that I don't enjoy her shows or her work. The Monster Ball was my favorite concert I've ever seen. I've paid to see her five times. I am a devoted fan. I'm sorry to hear that your dates got cancelled; I also had tickets to two dates for that tour. I have long since mourned and accepted that I'd never see The Born This Way Ball live, I simply just expected a better representation of that album on the setlist when both The Fame and The Fame Monster were well represented. I did not know the setlist going into the show. I did not have time to accept and process it like everyone else has. It was just a black spot on an otherwise incredible evening. But, again, I have explained this several times in the thread. Maybe you should go back and read my responses before you jump down my throat and just dismiss me as "b---hing". Of course I'd like for Gaga to perform more songs from BTW, and no, the setlist is not perfect, but when I'm at the concert I'm sure I'm going to be too excited to care I loved the show! Her energy was incredible. She seemed to be smiling a lot and just really enjoying herself which was honestly beautiful to see. And I'm very grateful I was able to see the show as well as for the amazing job she did performing. I obviously felt that certain things could have been better (not necessarily perfect, but overall much better), but I guess that's to be expected with the very first show of the tour.
