craig 680
Katy: Not only are Katy's themes relatable, but she also keeps those themes as simple and "methapor-less" as possible. Sorry, but Wide Awake is more metaphorical and better lyrically than most Gaga songs.
TheFame Monster 8,933
Katy is a singer. GaGa is artist. But Katy can't sing

Quark 7,098
I personally don't agree. Sorry, but Wide Awake is more metaphorical and better lyrically than most Gaga songs. Thanks. Most people here think I am doing this to hate on Katy. But I am simply doing these to a--lyse this situation. :) i like this post hey thanks for making this well written post. it should clear up alot of things on here
craig 680
Both Katy and Gaga are songwriters, both have a unique image and good videos. Before anyone gets on their high horse about Dr. Luke and Bonnie McKee, remember Gaga has struggled to be a consistent hitmaker without RedOne. Both do best as part of a song-making team
Bye 3,947
They're totally different artists with totally different musical goals. Part of the reason Gaga's lyrics aren't as praised is because she went from making the masses feel good to making the music more about her. It's not as fun hearing someone sing about their own ego tbh. Roar ( while kinda awful lul) was empowering and fun to the listener. Applause was empowering in the chorus, but the verses were like "Oh, Gaga wants our attention. meh." The Fame was entirely about her as was TFM :awkney:

tokyodisko 0
Most artists almost always sing about themselves (what happens in their lives). Well yes, but they usually work on making them relatable. Gaga kind of shot herself in the foot with some of her work. and choices. Why would the GP want to sing about Gaga saying she's the reverse Warhol? They don't. Then R. Kelly? Eesh, that was stupid of her. People don't take kindly to s-xual abusers. GUY got shafted for her earlier choices. It would have been a struggle, because it's not really the "in" sound, but would have kept people open to hearing her music. This era: Applause: self-indulgent, self-proclaiming. DWUW: Fun song, ****ty feature and message with said pos feature. GUY: more classic Gaga, but overlooked, because she shut audiences who were initially open to her this era out with the last two singles and the Venus/DWUW/DWUW video messes. Katy makes more relatable single choices. That's all. Gaga used to make them too and still sometimes does.

Quark 7,098
While Gaga's songs may not always be that artistic, there is also no denying that she does make some very artistic songs. Just go listen to the production, vocals, and lyrics in "Bloody Mary" there's no deny she has an amazing voice and talent, but girl please
