Diane Warren says that "Til It Happens to You," which she co-wrote with Lady Gaga, should have won the Academy Award at this year's show instead of Sam Smith's Bond song that "no one really heard."
Speaking to Larry King, the 8-time Oscar-nominated songwriter said, "I cried twice: [Gaga's performance] and when 'The winner is... not my song.' But I cried more after she performed. Everybody in the audience was on their feet. I think everybody thought I'd win, including me. [The winner was] the Sam Smith song from James Bond that no one really heard, I think it was shocking to him as well."
"I mean, not that no one heard it, but I think the fact is that my song has such a life of is on and it will last a long time," Warren added.
Oh, Diane!
During the interview, Diane also revealed that she co-wrote a couple of songs that might appear on Gaga's new album, due out later this year: "There's a couple [of songs] that she loves, so hopefully they'll be on there."
