  6. I think that Gaga was really inspired during the last run of the Jazz and Piano show, as well as Harlequin, and it felt the most "Gaga" out of all her jazz eras. She was experimenting with more eccentric fashion, reinterpreting her pop songs into jazz/funk/near mariachi covers (Americano, her resurgence), while having more confident theatrical flair and giving unique vocal performances. As a jazz fan and someone who thinks Harlequin is one of Gaga's best records, I'm wondering what fans of her jazz music would want for her next jazz project. This thread could be a space to discuss fashion inspiration, musical/concept direction, or mock tracklists of jazz/Great American Songbook/vintage pop songs that you'd want her to cover. Concept: New York Lady Songs that connect back to Gaga's NYC roots (literally, figuratively, and ephemerally). She'd cover songs that are either literally about the city, songs that remind her of growing up in NYC, or songs that look at NYC/growing up in the city through a nostalgic lens. For me, I'd love for her to cover: - Manhattan - I Put a Spell on You - Teach Me Tonight - Everything Happens to Me - September In The Rain - Autumn in New York - Cry Me a River - If I Had You - I'm Hip - When I Get Low I Get High - Girl from Ipanema - Too Marvelous for Words - New York, New York (official recording) Fashion More eccentric than previous jazz releases. A little "messy," but glamorous. Both high and low brow, eschewing more "high brow." I'm mostly thinking about looks from her secret jazz performances but elevated, with a dash of "Jazz Punk/Funk the Punk" and her recent Jazz and Piano shows splashed in. (note for fashion: see Gaga from September 29, 2010 performing at the Oak Room -- hair/fur body suit with fishnets and McQueen heels and bedecked in jewels. I can't embed the image unfortunately.) But these are just my ideas/musings. I feel like she's at an exciting part of her artistry where she can experiment(ish) with the idea of what a jazz singer can be. More theatrical, less emphasis on beautiful gowns, taking a bit more creative, sonic, and fashion risks. What would you want from her next jazz project?

  15. So nice to see her spend time with her sons. I'm assuming she's wearing a mask so no-one recognises her. “Wow wow!!! I didn't know this place existed, so incredibly cool and exciting... but extremely hot and my skirt is too big for me... family outings!!! DOLLYWOOD IS ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!! 🌹🌹🌹” https://x.com/BritneyPlanet/status/2108070690154803417?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^2108070690154803417|twgr^6a004a6759ccc140dc16d2c7039649abbdc10708|twcon^s1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fatrl.net%2Findex.php%3Fapp%3Dcoremodule%3Dsystemcontroller%3Dembedurl%3Dhttps%3A%2F%2Fx.com%2FBritneyPlanet%2Fstatus%2F2108070690154803417

  16. Now that almost this entire fanbase has exhausted every possible fantasy about what Gaga should do with her career, her music, her personal life, her uterus, her release schedule, and possibly her grocery list, I think it's time we consulted someone equally qualified to make decisions on her behalf: ChatGPT. So here's a fun little experiment. Open ChatGPT (or whatever AI you use) and ask it one simple question: "What should Gaga do next?" Post your answers below. I'm genuinely curious to see whether AI can outdo the natural delusion we've been cultivating here for the past 15 years. 💀 Bonus points if your ChatGPT has stronger opinions about her career than you do.

  24. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cq4g1j54nepyo Canadian poet, essayist and translator Anne Carson has been awarded this year's Nobel Prize in Literature. Carson, 76, is celebrated for works that often cross the boundaries between poetry, fiction and scholarship. The Nobel Prize committee said they had selected her "for her bold and inventive oeuvre that, in playful dialogue with the classical tradition, has created new forms for contemporary literature". Carson responded by joking that the judges were "crazy" for honouring her. "I think they're all crazy... Well, you know, it's crazy," she told public broadcaster RUV in Iceland, where she is currently staying. The Nobel Prize is awarded for a lifetime's body of work and is regarded as the most prestigious award in global literature, with the winner receiving 12 million Swedish kronor (£900,000, $1.2m). Ingrid Carlberg, permanent secretary of the Swedish Academy, said she had broken the news to Carson on the phone shortly before the public announcement. "She had time to tell me was that she is, for the moment, in Iceland, where she is listening to the wind," Carlberg, said. "She was taken by surprise but very happy. I could hear that in her voice." Born in Toronto in 1950, Carson lives in Michigan and has also held Icelandic citizenship since 2022. Anders Olsson, chairman of the Swedish Academy's Nobel committee for Literature, praised the way Carson has "broken away from lyrical poetry bound to the narrative self and inspired new forms of contemporary literature". "This method of writing leads to playful and ironic works that move not only between classical and modern poetry but also between different genres and artforms," he said. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said Carson's win was "an extraordinary achievement and a proud moment for Canada". The writer's works feature "wit, imagination, and a style entirely her own," Carney wrote on social media. "She has brought ancient stories to new audiences and transformed the way we think about literature." /// If you're new to Carson's work, I'd recommend Autobiography of Red: A Novel in Verse and her Sappho translations. As someone who's admired her work as a poet, essayist, and literary translator for a long time, I'm over the moon about her win.

I knew instantly she was going to be huge and one of the greats. I told people this at the time and they were like "ok..." but they're eating their hat now.
