  5. I'm gonna say something vulnerable and controversial.. I think she was a better lyricist when she was in her 'crazy' era. And I know she was less mentally stable back then which makes it kinda sad in hindsight. But I just don't think she's ever touched lyrics like this again since: "another shot before we kiss the other side, I'm on the edge of something final we call life tonight, put on your shades 'cause I'll be dancing in the flames, it isn't hell if everybody knows my name" "a hybrid can withstand these things, my heart can beat with bricks and strings, my ARTPOP could mean anything" "we are not just art for Michaelangelo to carve, he could not rewrite the agro of my furied heart, I'll wait on mountaintops in Paris cold, j'veux pas mourir toute seule" Like those songs contain beautiful, evocative, poetry. Hearing some of the lyrics now like Plastic Doll, Hold My Hand, Dead Dance, How Bad Do U Want Me.. they are just so literal and don't really make you feel or imagine anything It's just kinda sad that unfortunately it seems (for a lot of artists) the really deep, poetic, best stuff comes from their suffering. And don't get me wrong.. Mayhem has some GREAT moments and I am NOT doubting her immense and diverse talents. I'm glad she's in a better place. I'd rather her lyrics be somewhat mid, or hit-and-miss, and her to be happy, than have her suffer as a tortured artist forever. I know she's learned that that just isn't sustainable and is doing what's better for herself

  8. I don’t understand the rhetoric of “glamorizing having an ED” as something malicious when that would obviously be a dimension of how her illness manifests. I’m not saying that makes it right, but I think it’s weird that folks use that as a way to vacate themselves of empathy.

  12. You guys shouldn't be that surprised anymore. Her whole Instagram is one big body-check right now https://www.instagram.com/p/DZcx6mJlMYf/?img_index=1 Exposed clavicles and chest plate and backbones on full display, arms outstreched, her bent over or hunched down looking 'small and frail', backbends, fingers outstretched, being swallowed up in big fabric looking tiny, her entire jawbone and trachea being highlighted by the lighting. It's very on purpose. She's very sick and seriously needs some help before something bad happens. It's making me feel anxious every time I see her And aside from that, I know she's sick, but it's irresponsible to portray and glamorise this kind of thing to her impressionable audience. It goes beyond it being 'just her body' or 'telling a woman to cover herself' if it really is on purpose

  17. she needs to stop with the veganism bullsheet and eat properly for a change. it does feel extremely dangerous and unsettling when her work is quite literally centred around the idea of death. rn she doesn’t look like someone who’s going to live for very long and it is heartbreaking witnessing this in front of our eyes.

I know there's nothing I can say or do to help her, so I'm just hoping that she's able to overcome whatever it is that's going on with her.

  26. She's great. Swifties who like to mock any other popstars songwritings don’t understand that songwritings just like litterature, can belong to various many genres. Make them read a play by Shakespeare, then a classical novel like Faust, then make them read a post-modern book by Duras... They couldn’t get it cause they parrots, they like Taylor's songwritings bc the critics told them so. Gaga's style is designed to create pulsative beats based on words and feelings. That’s what Dance music is meant to, and that’s what Madonna explains in Confession II. Gaga borrows many references too (there isn’t only TayTay who can do that loool). And sometimes she can speak about personal experiences too in a more sober way like on "You and I". It’s in The Fame that Gaga starts to use her fav thing in life onomatopeias and stuttering. It creates great melodies and memorable ones. TFM without "Rah-Rah" wouldn’t be the same. Chromatica's songwriting is great because it mimics the way ppl with ptsd can speak under stress. There are some phrases that are shorts, not fully articulated but honests... Her metaphors express euphemisms of very crude realities "keep my dolls inside the box" for litteral medications. ARTPOP is very post-modern with all it’s references and contain some damn poetic lines. It’s focused on love. It’s her best lyrics imo. The whole ARTPOP song is like a performance about how she takes her inspo. It’s theatrical and supported by a voice who can produce many performative effects : "Free my mind ARTPOP You make my heart stop" Even Aura sounds so cool because she mixes yet cosmical ideas and very incarnated themes. Again it’s performative, theatrical : "Do you wanna see me naked lover Do you want to peak underneath the bed cover Do you want to see the girl who lives behind the aura" "We're both convicted criminals of thoughts" on X Dreams was a ref to Orwell's universe in 1984. Mayhem might be her most cohesive one in term of lyrics. The themes are repeating itselves because the whole album is haunted. Some words are repeated often times like "Dry", "Kill/killah", "Dance", etc... It’s because there is a whole storyline here because of the fears she has. It’s really like in goth litterature. There is a double. This double appears on the album cover and they twist the knives : There is a knive. Don’t Call Tonight mentions it. Most of the time, she talks about her. This part of herself that is red (yeah the lady in Red) that ends up being fusionned to the lady in white to become black when the alchemical conflict is finished. It really follows how Gaga's identity became split at some point of her life and how it is cyclical (like she explained when she dropped Disease). You know why some Swifties do mock Gaga's songwriting ? Because it’s not prude. Because she uses crudes images or expressions. Sorry but if the artist must be prude, how can Gaga give birth to such an amazing monsters in her discography ?

  28. If yall don’t know who John Summit is…he is basically the it boy of electronic dance music right now. For context, He has stated his love for her before and said he has been a fan for a long time so this isn’t completely out of the blue. BUT he seemed a little more intentional this time because he was in a quick intense interview situation with Hulu+Disney and asked who is his top dream collaboration and he said Lady Gaga. He did not name anyone else. He also called her the queen and he has even in the past referred to her as “the LeBron James of Pop” because of her ability to dominate media. video: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTAQ1Xw9v/ —————— My quick thoughts as a John Summit fan: It’s funny because I listen to him a lot and think his sound is fun and danceable but also really interesting and sophisticated sounding at times. And I even have heard songs of his and directly thought of Gaga doing it. It’s like…he does stuff that she has not done yet (sub-genre wise) that I know she would do so well on. I actually genuinely think he would modernize her sound but also still make it serious and suitable for critical perception. Artistically I think they both exist in the same worlds. I know a lot of people like to crap on stuff because it is popular but honestly if you go listen to his music there is a reason he is popular and becoming a household name. His productions feel expensive, big, expansive, but he also doesn’t forget the soft undertones and winks and musicality of it all. He could easily make Gaga another Bad Romance type big song. (His stuff feels big). He does a lot of trance and acid and techno and house and is really genre versatile within the dance arena. what do you think? I know some think Gaga is gonna take a hiatus but I also think maybe we shouldn’t assume anything and that was never truly clear and Gaga will let the universe do what the universe will do. Why can’t she put out dance music while she has a family? We can wait for a tour. I think it would actually be kind of edgy of her to defy expectations and release dance music anyway. I just really feel like John Summit would be a big missed opportunity for her to strike while this is hot…because my gut just tells me they would make her a really important album in her career…she has always made great dance records and been a groundbreaker to bring electronic into pop. But I feel like that has gotten away from her recently, and EDM is moving in new directions. I’d like to see her remind people how she fits into the dance music picture and how she can evolve it still. It’s very much her core genre still in my opinion. Mostly because in my opinion this genre always gets people physically moving towards joy and community and togetherness. I want to see her make a new electronic album about that. (granted I’m still one of those monsters that think Gaga still hasn’t made her best album yet) lol

  30. It's not like she can take a magic pill and just instantly have "normal" weight... What the **** do y'all want from her?! That she locks herself up in an institution for a few years and cease to exist and create music so she can be "normal"?! Healing from ED takes a lot of time and for the body to get back on track. She's probably aware of the problem but its not a magic trick for her to just change. I'm so ****ing sick and tired of all y'all bringing her and other women's bodies down. If she put on weight she'd be scrutinized, because she's extremely thin she's also getting a ton of ****. I'd say she's probs dealing with a lot, from all the **** she got for that sponge bob affair, I'm pretty sure she's aware of all the negative **** about her body, and that also doesn't help in a person getting well and "normal".. the stress of it all is probably eating her alive and that is the result. It might be the vegan diet keeping her from gaining weight, but at the end of the day it's not her job to be a role model and its not any of yours job to discuss her body. And posts like this doesn't help, if anything it can make it worse, so congratulations on being part of the problem.

  32. This too is a good example of the horrible way of discussing this topic i mentioned above. Please god some of you read some actual material from physicians about how to discuss EDs because this sort of thing makes it way, way, way worse. "But she has to know that what she’s doing is not smart or healthy" yeah girl that's why it's a mental illness! Do you think people who cut themselves think that's good for them? No. They know it's bad for them. But it's a compulsion. Calling someone selfish for that is not going to help them in any way. Every medical professional with a knowledge of EDs will tell you that it is an illness often defined by parasocial behaviors and retalliation. The more you call her bad, the further into her illness (assuming she has one) she'll retreat. People with EDs often use their disordered eating as a mixture of power reclaimation and self punishment. They will dive into it if they feel the narrative around their appearance has lost their control, and they will also dive into it if they feel they need to atone for something or should be guilty of something. There are VERY specific ways to discuss an ED with someone who has one, and it should always be done with compassion and understanding. People with EDs cannot reason with their illness properly, and they will absolutely retreat into the arms of it if they feel there's any sort of combative intentions behind bringing it up.

  33. Here's the thing that people don't seem to understand about the way they pose commentary on what's going with Ariana: the way they're going about it is likely making the situation way worse. I don't think that saying nothing is the right movie, but how you say what you say matters with an eating disorder. Eating disorders are extremely complex mental illnesses and while we know what people mean when they say she looks unhealthy or bad, her brain won't receive it the same way and it could encourage the patient to go even deeper into disordered habits (if she has an ED; I say if simply because while i may have thoughts, i'm ultimately not a medical professional and am incapable of making any sort of diagnosis of anyone). The key with discussing an ED with someone who has one is not to comment on how they look, but rather express a personal concern for their health generally. EDs often spring from a hyper awareness of how one looks, and they often have extremely parasocial triggers, so focusing all of the dialogue on appearance is only going to reinforce in the mind of someone with an ED a need to continue acting to alter their appearance. I don't doubt many of her fans are legitimately concerned but there absolutely needs to be a change in how that concern gets expressed. The way a lot of it gets expressed now is likely making the issue worse. People with EDs often delve further into the behavior in retaliation. Commentary on their looks often feels like power being taken away, so they retreat into their habits as a way of taking the power back. I think it needs to be discussed, but people need to do a lot of self-education on how to discuss it because there's been some irresponsible approaches to the topic that if she were to ever happen to see would absolutely push her further into the darkness. I also think that the narrative some small groups are running with of villainizing her for it ("young girls look up to her") is also not helpful in any way. People with EDs simply will never respond to force or critique for the reasons I said above. The most common way to reach someone with an ED is through compassion and a willingness to understand and meet them whee they are so that the dialogue doesn't come across as hostile or combative. When discussing EDs with someone who has one, you have to very carefully thread the needle because our words absolutely can and do have an impact on how they act. Any hint of confrontation and they will continue to double down.

  40. Those stills make it quite clear that she's dangerously underweight. You can see her skeletal structure through her skin, that's not normal or healthy. I know a lot of stans are very skittish around talking about women's weight and body appearance (including us Monsters) but this is more than just her being skinnier than she was in the 2010s

  41. This will only continue to get worse as Western nations continue to destabilize the global south and western Asia and put economic interests over political stability and mitigating climate change. If Western nations were wise, we would pull out of forever wars, promote economic cooperation, and engage in and promote infrastructure revitalization before the climate crisis and political polarization/instability becomes worse. But we aren't, so we won't.

  42. They need to do it the legal way, not this way. They can't expect to illegally enter a country and then do nothing whilst in that country, expecting hard working Spaniards to support them. They need to educate themselves about the culture of countries and adapt to it as well. I believe Norway has an assimilation training program for immigrants that works quite well to help them assimilate into Norwegian culture.
