Ugh this reeks of misogyny. Why is it necessary to put down other women to praise Taylor? Why can’t they be businesswomen as well as recording artists? And I know the anti-capitalism argument many people on here share, but founding your own brand and being successful at it isn’t nothing. Rihanna literally created an empire with Fenty.

Gaga has been dancing with darkness since the start of her career, but I feel like Chromatica, despite all of its bright and colourful imagery, represented the darkest moment Gaga has ever reached. The raw lyrics expose the mental space she was in during the writing process, and even the album cover looks like Gaga has fallen to the bottom of a shadowy well, pinned down by the weight of her music and fame. MAYHEM feels like Gaga finally reconciling with that darkness and fear, symbolising her fully embodying her true, multi-faceted persona. I wouldn't be surprised if LG8 builds on MAYHEM and continues the narrative of Gaga reclaiming her chaos further, but in a more serene and reflective way.
