Girl, don’t. You started this mess. You’re the one writing about London, wood, and red scarfs.33 points

Translation: DIVAS! In an interview with iHeartRadio, Meryl Streep confirms that she called Lady Gaga from London to invite her to join “The Devil Wears Prada 2”. 👠 “I just said: ‘Would you do it? Because it’s going to be really great.’ And she replied: ‘Yes.’ (Gaga, a woman of few words!) In the same conversation, she and her co-star Emily Blunt praised the singer’s work ethic, noting that she accepted the invitation even in the middle of a world tour at the time. “She’s just incredible. She was on a world tour that lasted a year, performing for 75,000 people in stadiums, and yet she still flew in to join us,” Streep emphasized. “And friends told me that she’d do the entire show and, at the end, she’d go backstage, take off the wig, take everything off, remove all the makeup, go back on stage… just like that, totally simple. And people would cry. Because seeing that… it was like she was saying: ‘All this is part of the show, but this is the real me.’ I think she’s an incredibly creative force. I think she’s amazing,” Blunt concluded.25 points

It's a contractual obligation for all of her collaborators that she gets the main credit. It also stipulates that the collaborator has to call her "the most humble and grounded person I've ever worked with" a minimum of 3 times during the promotional campaign.14 points

But this is honestly the reason why absolutist sloganeering is really bad for generating discussion: by refusing the space in which I’d imagine most people exist (eats meat, but fundamentally does care about/wants the ethical treatment of animals), you’re both misrepresenting and flattening what they actually think and feel while also forcing them into an essentially unwinnable binary, which naturally triggers defensiveness. Advocating for the ethical treatment of animals is one thing, but claiming that it’s wholly incompatible to love animals while simultaneously consuming animal products is a completely different statement. This type of messaging does precisely nothing for advocating for animals, imo, and, if anything, it negatively polarizes people that might be otherwise inclined to agree with her broader argument.11 points

All the people triggered already I eat meat, but I think she's right. How can I say I love animals and then pay for their flesh? I can't give up meat yet but I can admit to myself that the way meat is sourced is fucking disgusting and horrendous and diabolical and I'm not proud of financing that industry. Anyone who can convince me otherwise, go ahead.10 points

Because waiting is so hard? As if waiting is the only thing they could do and takes up so much time of their life? Idk, if your fav artist’s album is delayed, then do focus on something else. It literally doesn’t affect your life. I don’t get this entitlement and impatience of demanding an artist to give you what you want when you want it. If LG8 is delayed and delayed, I’m not gonna throw a fit and make an ultimatum. If an album comes, then it’ll come. It’s not as if Lana hasn’t dropped 2 albums in one year before. And she has released most of her albums with a 2 year gap. It’s only been 3 years since Ocean Blvd. Being upset with her given her history of releasing music consistently is ridiculous.8 points

To be fair, she wrote 3 original songs for the movie, flew in to film her scene(s) during a world tour, made a MV for further promo... & then attended the premiere to further hype things up Probably took more than 5 mins lol7 points

LIke with TDD, you can feel that conceptually, it's a demo that was reworked around another project. It's not bad at all, but it doesn't fully gel as a Gaga song for me. Reserving judgement until I hear the full HQ version however.7 points

Oop. My dear vegans in the chat tonight, please try not to break an arm jerking yourselves off. You don't get to tell people who they are simply because they eat one thing or another. That's like me calling all vegans eco-terrorists because agriculture at it's core is bad for the environment (deforestation, cuts biodiversity, rampant pesticide use, aggressive water usage, destruction of top soil, etc). "You can't say you love nature when acres and acres of forest are being chopped down to grow YOUR soy beans!!" See how stupid that sounds? "You can't say you care about animal welfare when you EAT HAMBURGERS" See how stupid that makes you sound? I eat meat and I love animals. I support regulations on the meat industry to curb both its impact on the environment and to curb the cruelty aspect. To tell me "um actually, you think and feel this way because I said so ☝️🤓" is so egotistical and self-aggrandizing it's no wonder people hate vegans lmao. We're all human, we're all hypocrites. And if you say "I'm not a hypocrite!" then you're both a hypocrite and a liar.7 points

I’ll admit I haven’t read this entire thread/discussion BUT I will say that we don’t have to defend or justify our diets. We all participate in unethical behaviors willing or unwillingly every day. If you participate in capitalism you are participating in the exploitation of people around the world. Not everyone has the resources or education to make “ethical” dietary choices. People around the world are different. Veganism is something that is currently not accessible to all people. You can’t expect humanity to overhaul its diet instantly. Food is culture, survival, and nutrition. It’s totally possible to change behavior and culture but not by blaming the whole world for not doing something that isn’t readily available to them.6 points

the full track list for the soundtrack is out and all of Gaga's songs are the first 3 tracks which means Shape is gonna get the most streams because if people listen in order it'll be the first track, followed by Runway and then Glamorous Life.6 points

You pay paparazzi and magazines to sip gossips on you... And make lyrics about the gossips and shi on your army of parasocial fans... Gaga never made her private life the main topic, ppl were less interested by who she dates (except for the movie with Bradley Cooper) than by her outfits and new gimmicks. It doesn't change the fact that some of her songs are very personal and you got to dig a lot to get it. But there is no such things as "easter eggs" for the fans.6 points
-
oh wow so many brave people in this thread lol Gaga would block like 90% of the people here, including me, and ya'll would bitch about it, even cry a little. I think it's very immature to block someone over this comment, it was not even offending, it was not directed at her personally at all.. it was just an overthought of a fan who's waiting for an album. we're all been there every single time in between era.. like ya'll lost your sh-t since the Chromatica movie until Mayhem release.. so calm down and look at your own little hump on the back.6 points

Count backwards 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Before you get too heated and turned on (This guy) You should've learned your lesson all in times before You've been bruised, you've been broken And there's my mind saying, "Think before you go" Through that door that takes me to nowhere (Yes boy) I stopped you all romantic crazy in your head Do you think I listen? No, I don't care 'Cause I can't focus, I can't stop You got me spinning round, round, round, round (Like a record) I can't focus, it's too hot (Inside) You'll never get to Heaven If you're scared of getting high Let me keep freaking around, I wanna get down And I'm a red-blooded woman What's the point of hanging around? She's far too old to be coming to such juvenile conclusions. Humans are meant to be omnivores. It's how we evolved and survived for eons. If we weren't meant to eat meat, eating it would make us very ill, maybe kill us. There are many nutrients in meat, some of which aren't present in any other food source, which is why vegans take certain supplements. We also treat our pets differently from animals we don't have connections to, just like how lions love and protect their cubs but will kill an antelope to feed them. Animals can love other animals but then kill them too. Does she also agree with "you can love humans and you can love animals, but you can't do both"? Clearly, she didn't think this one through. How about this - animals don't care about our welfare, they look out for their own species and don't think twice about killing us for food. So, why should we be any different? It's indeed a very human thing to care about other species but it's hardly mandatory. Just because we can expand our humanity to care for every living thing doesn't mean we should. Animals would never. Don't even get me started on the uber sensitive vegans who feel guilty when they rip a plant out the ground. I once even heard about feeling guilty for getting rid of mould! Toxic mould! That stuff is a much lower grade of sentiency to us, I have no time for that nonsense. They may technically be living things but they don't have a heart, lungs and nervous system, so not living in any way that any rational person would define it. Don't get me wrong, far too much meat is created, animals are losing their lives over nothing when nobody eats it, the way some of these animals are killed is horrific. But that doesn't mean we still shouldn't eat them. God knows they suffer much more when they're hunted in the wild. As long as we're only killing animals for food, I have no issue with it. I have a moral opposition to the killing of infant animals, personally, but that's about it. No bullfighting, dog/c**k fighting, killing healthy greyhounds after retirement, eating of live animals. As long as they're killed for the most noble purpose (food), there's nothing to be ashamed of.6 points

Eatting meat is literally a natural thing for humans it’s part of our history and our success as species our bodies are literally design to eat vegetables and meat we can find better and more civilized ways to raise animals for our consuption but this mentality of treating Those who eat meat as monsters is non sense6 points
