  1. Someone needs to give a tutorial on how to use Spotify for the Medonsters. I also heard they were driving around trying to find the iTunes store...bless their hearts x

  3. The Strokes closed out their second weekend Coachella set with a provocative political message, using their platform to remind the world of the continued devastation in Gaza. For their final song, the 2016 track ‘Oblivius’, which they haven’t played live since the year it was released. The slideshow behind the band turned serious, as it included political figures like Omar Torrijos, Jacobo Árbenz and Jaime Roldós Aguilera, all described as leaders allegedly overthrown by the CIA. The Strokes also included an image of Martin Luther King Jr, with the statement, “US Govt found guilty of his murder in civil trial.” Footage online depicted the use of signage that read, “Black Lives Matter. “ The Strokes used the final moments to provide a shockingly realistic recreation of air missile strikes in Gaza. “Over 30 universities destroyed in Iran. Last University standing in Gaza,” the gigantic screen behind them read, before it was engulfed in digital flames in a creative reimagining of the destruction that continues to persist in Palestine. x

  5. Eh, no shame in that, tbh. At this point in her career, she’s more of a niche artist, which is totally fine/respectable. She’s an absolute legend in the grand scheme, but her music just isn’t at the core of the cultural conversation atp.

  8. Runway is growing on me. It's just been played on BBC Radio 2 and it sounded good. I have to say I didn't listen to it a third time when it was out a week ago, but now I'm enjoying the instrumental especially the skipping and superb electronic instrumental breaks towards the end, it almost sounds like Daft Punk music. It's a well produced song, yes it completely borrows from previous songs including RuPaul, and yes the rap flow does really sound like a couple Azealia Banks songs, but it doesn't sound like everything on the radio and it isn't as generic and easy as something like APT (which I cannot stand). Of course I would have preferred something else from Mayhem to be on the radio by now but it's for The Devil Wears Prada 2 so let's see how it performs.

  9. One whole week with a whole crew and filming at a prestigious location and to top it off she donated $250K to the Hearst Castle Preservation Foundation? Yes that’s our queen!

  10. “You kinda remind me of my American Idol days, except you would've never made it to Hollywood." Even on a really good day, if Katy were to audition for any singing contest I don’t think she would go to Hollywood either. If I were Acacia, I would have responded with “Would you sing a little for us acapella, dear?”

  15. It's not ruining anything for me. I see it as an apetizer. And I love it.

  16. I mean, pretty decent for a song that got a non-streaming focused roll out and isn't being pushed as lead single.

  17. Literally every artist should be doing the same tbh

  20. This is really bad, when people take someone else's success to an unhealthy personal level. I hope this person is okay. Not eating or sleeping because of a song not doing well is very worrying.

  21. That certainly makes sense. She seemed to give it everything she had just to give the fans something. It was unlikely for another major hit from ARTPOP by then (even if GUY does outstream entire careers by itself today)

  28. That’s amazing for a song that was premiered on the radio with almost no promotion at all from her team. This song was released to spark a buzz, and it’s definitely working. It was only put on streaming yesterday. This era being a love letter to the dance floor is even translating itself into the tactics they’re using to market it. So glad she’s back with Warner.

  29. I dont know why folks are in here defending Katy in any degree. Given the latest allegations and police investigation the Arriety comment is just further evidence that Katy doesn't respect boundaries and is incredibly inappropriate about sexual topics.

  32. The housewifes, the Minecraft, the cinematography being all over the place... She tried to cram way too many different things into just 1 video.

  39. As a Gen Z myself I can say that only people who live under a rock and are out of touch with pop culture don’t know who Madonna is
    5 points
  40. No shade but why bringing Lady Gaga here ? Totally agree that Madonna is legendary. But Lady Gaga has pretty much proved MANY times over the last 17 years that she is her own league and doesn't deserve any Madonna comparison
