Monsters, In various threads for the past day or so, I’ve seen a lot of hate for KFL. I wanted to make a little thread for those of us who LOVE it to celebrate the song together. I think it’s impeccable. That drumroll at the beginning of the song. It gets me so hype, especially when the synths crash in. The synths! The soaring chorus! The way it demands a shoulder dance (as many of her best songs do). The fun bridge! The horns! I love KFL. Shout out to anyone else who does too. (Also DCT, lots of hate for it and it slaps)15 points

I wonder if she’s also going to do Partynauseous then. It’d be amazing if she does Tea or something like that. The amount of studio version tracks she has that we will never hear. Girl do at least Do What U Want solo.8 points

It's a downer sounding. It's a song about her engagement, but it sounds like somebody just died or something. I don't mind the slowness of it all, but the melancholy is a bit much.7 points

because that's not the correct story; PC was made late in the creation and she wanted to scrap the album and start fresh with PC but he encouraged her to keep Mayhem as instead of needing to start again what he did was a good thing otherwise she would fall into another cycle of self doubt and insecurity... he encouraged her to follow her vision that's his only influence on her creative process; encouragement and support or we would be sat here still waiting for LG77 points

Now which one of you gays will leak Bell Centre's data base for us to get this studio version7 points

It sounds too much like Dope when it should’ve been more like Is That Alright?.6 points

Ok so, lyrically the song is beautiful. I’m sure it’s one of the most important songs from the album to Gaga. But I can’t seem to connect to it and like it because of one main reason: The chorus’s melody. The same old melody of the modern pop era (ex: bad romance, judas, so am I, white mercedes, apt etc…). It just lacks originality and creativity, and for me it cheapens the song and makes me feel like Gaga just slapped on the melody and called it a day. what do you think?5 points

Also, just an observation. Kylie stays relevant to the GP because she doesn’t get lost in herself and take it all so seriously. She has fun with it and does it all with a wink and a smile. Very positive vibe. Cher is the same way.5 points

Thisssssss I love when songs sound happy even though the lyrics are sad. But the other way around..? The song is about something happy and romantic and yet it sounds like she’s deeply traumatized for whatever reason5 points

Look at the singular talking point used by political groups when it comes to opposing the following: Free school meals/targeted food suport for children in poverty etc - they say its not the taxpayers responsibility to feed kids, that parents shouldn't have children they can't feed. Children social transitioning in schools & teachers being forced to inform parents even when there are legitimate child safeguarding concerns - they say the children belong to the parents and only parents can make the decision, even when teachers have evidence to support protecting the child from their parents. Bans on smacking children - they oppose it, again, because its not for the state to tell parents how to parent. Even though physical punishment like spankings are proven to be Adverse Childhood Experiences that cause lifelong trauma which costs society millions. Bans on educational materials featuring same-sex couples or any form of sex ed etc - repeatedly argued for decades, and on many occasions banned on the principle that its a parent's responsibility to teach the subjects to children and to actively teach harmful things to children as part of it. Parental responsibility should not be seen as gospel truth. I work with young people in the care system, every single one of those young people are in the system because of failed parents. And there are thousands of kids in the system - in the city based charity I work for we worked with over a 1000 last financial year. So yeah, I don't think we should sit here and palm off all responsibility to parents and ignore it ourselves. I will always think it is selfish because I personally know of 1000s of examples of parents who don't take responsibility. And if we all swallow the selfish libertarian bollocks that we have no responsibility to others in society, especially young people, then we are passively facilitating their neglect and/or abuse. If my colleagues and our organisation didn't exist, it social services didn't exist. We all know what happens to those kids. And it is only because we recognise that for a healthy society to function we all have to pitch in that those young people get any form of support and protection. So yeah, I will always say that whether its our child or not. If we are in a space where a young person can be in accordance with the law and rules of the space that everyone in that space has responsibilities placed on them by society. That applies to kids and adults. Because without the social contract, we are all put at risk. Libertarian ideals are morally repugnant and based on the rejection of personal responsibility to others. They are inseparable from selfishness. And they are the tool of oppressors who seek to isolate, control and abuse those unable to defend themselves.5 points

Challenge: find someone who hates Speechless, Yoü And I, Always Remember Us This Way, I’ll Never Love Again or Is That Alright?4 points
-
I think it sounds like a dirge because it’s an expression of her being afraid of opening herself up to love again, choosing to do so, but also still feeling all of the raw pain of the hurt she’s gone through in her past. Although it’s not the exactly the same, I remember when I realized that I was in love for the first time in a deep way, it was actually painful because I was afraid that I would lose it again and even thinking about admitting how much he mattered to me was overwhelming, so I feel like that’s kind of where’s she’s at in the song. She’s trying to feel hopeful in spite of herself.4 points

Clocked it. It’s because she started the Monster Ball in Montreal. I was wondering why it was ringing a bell and that’s why. Monster Ball 1.0 was started there so she probably wanted to pull something specific to the city which would be something from TMB which would ultimately be this (yeah it’s from 2.0 but I doubt she was thinking that hard about splitting hairs lol)4 points

I love it lyrically but the production and vocals are like "something horrible happened to me, I'm in so much emotional pain and idk how to deal" rather than "Im celebrating finding the love of my life after overcoming emotional hardships" If she had a pleasant vocal delivery like idk Million reasons, Just another day or That's life with a similar production style, it would be kinda a great precursor to DWAS, but it suffers from the same issues as Dope, Till it happens to you and Shallow where she's just destroying her beautiful voice.4 points

It's just corny honestly and if you're not the biggest fan of Michael (like moi ) you're not gonna like a song about their engagement "This is the lawn of memories that I mourn" is straight up a reject Melanie Martinez lyric Definitely the weakest song on the album by a wide margin4 points

Tbh I think it's a combination of what you explained (the chorus sounds way too familiar) and also the way she sings most parts of the song. She uses her voice in a way that I simply dont find appealing... Its like too nasal and almost like she is about to cry/scream (like a baby would???). I find it kind of irritating Pd: (English is not my first language, sorry if I sound too rude trying to explain it. I love gaga its just the way she sings in this song)4 points

It's just that many songs can have the same or similar chords. More and more producers are finding it harder to nail different chords. I'm not complaining about BOG, but I find KFL disjointed and therefore not my type4 points

Correct me if I'm wrong, but why do I feel like some people are hardcore defending this just because she's trans and not anything else? Would anyone jump the same way if it were a cis woman or man? You could say that the people are arguing against this are doing it because she's trans too, but that's not the point here in GGD. I agree that we should show realistic trans bodies, and while this is punk, I think there are better ways to show it. I'd feel a bit strange if ANYONE was flashing their whoo-has on the internet where everyone can see, and aren't purposely looking for it. I would've taken it better if it was censored like in the thread here and shown somewhere else. It's not an end of the world situation, but I think we need to take a step back here and really think about this.4 points

I honestly wish she'd just drop this one on Spotify / Apple Music as a gift. I mean the song is available for ages, and she's taking no coin from the plays. Put this right after Retro Dance Freak on TFM edition4 points

there is a chronological timeline for the era on her website and Requiem, although labeled with the infamous "soon", is displayed before Shape of a Woman, which is coming at the end of April (?). This is the only hint we have for a release scheduled for the next couple of weeks. Edit: nevermind, I've checked again and they changed the timeline lmao now it's displayed as the first Mayhem-related event in 2026 because it happened in January: Grammys, the Super Bowl surprise and Mayhem Ball US were added before Shape of a Woman so yeah, we don't know **** about when it will come, brace yourselves for whatever.3 points

We can talk about this more than a minute! It was my first Kylie CD and I had it on repeat Her live albums are great in general, but Aphrodite is especially incredible, as well as the tour was. Props to her for releasing a live album for most of her recent tours! Showgirl, US Tour, Aphrodite, Kiss Me Once, Golden and the recent Tension Tour3 points

I feel like CGYOOMH is #1 because it had such an impact in my life, loved it for 20+ years. but... if not that song, then my vote would be Get Outta My Way but also props to All The Lovers, Timebomb, Tension, 2 Hearts, WOW, In My Arms, In Your Eyes, Confide In Me3 points

Basically how I feel, tbh. I think it’s a well-written song, I appreciate how much it means to her, but to paraphrase the Swiftologist’s reaction to it: “I’m glad that happened to you, but what the hell does that have to do with me?”3 points
