Isn't this overreaction a bit? Public scrutiny I get but this seems to unnecessarily snowballing. I understand what's happening, but A listers protocols always so tight tho. I am not sure Chappell should be blamed for this? Especially each person boundaries are different. And ahe have infamously let it known that she is very strict with that stuffs.13 points

Ally Maine released her tell-all debut album back in 2018. With themes of love, addiction, jealousy and forgiveness, the album serves as a memoire of her blooming romance with country superstar Jackson Maine. It combines pop, tropical house and her signature americana flair and had her winning a Grammy for Best Debut Artist. 1. Shallow (solo) 2. Look What I Found 3. Heal Me 4. LoveDrug 5. Hair Body Face 6. Why Did You Do That 7. 1000 Doves 8. Before I Cry 9. Don't Call Tonight 10. Free Woman 11. How Bad Do U Want Me 13. Love Me Right 14. The Cure 15. Is That Alright? 16. Always Remember Us This Way Bonus track: 17. Shallow ft. Jackson Maine Do you stan? Should it have won more Grammys? What singles would you have picked? Will you continue to stream it?12 points

You mean, like....... the many, many people on this website who were day-1 little monsters but don't fw Chappell? Lol I don't remember ever jumping on a "hate campaign" when LG was controversial... because she was never an outright d!ckhead. LG's & Chappell's approaches to fame were/are entirely different. LG courted it, which was part of her appeal/intrigue. Chappell is talented but doesn't want to be famous… we get it. No one hates her, we just find her behavior in the context of her chosen profession to be grating. Also, no one is "crying" about it (besides the little girl lol). If it were a male celeb (allegedly) behaving like this, people would be giving him sh!t online, too (probably even moreso). It has nothing to do with her being a woman or being queer. She has gone out of her way to act like a jackass numerous times when she could have simply kept chugging ahead & not taken the bait from those who would provoke her, working within a system she herself signed up for. She could have easily chosen another career... but she chose this one. & now she (& we, apparently) must suffer through it together with her.12 points

Anyone genuinely defending this looks extremely goofy There is no valid reason why any grown adult should send another grown adult to intimidate and yell at a young child for simply passing her table and smiling. A simple request being like “Thank you, but I don’t want to be talked to right now” would’ve sufficed without all of that, which is what many experienced celebs know to do. She’s pushing her limits with people within the industry and her own wealth bracket, and I have a strong feeling it’s not going to end well soon.10 points

It’s lame af for Lana to be coming after an artist who is clearly more niche than she is, and all of Ethel’s posts have never been as negative Lana’s perpetual victimhood claims to be Log off and touch your MAGA husband’s groin (no amount of “Oh I’m not MAGA” posts won’t convince me that he isn’t at his big ass age).9 points

She’s got an attitude that some people tout for her “fierceness” and “not putting up with bs” but she really just comes across a little narcissistic, a lot bratty, and a bit ungrateful9 points

Call me delusional but I don't think we can judge the way Chappell protects her boundaries. We don't know what it's like to be her. It's a double edged sword for sure but she seems like the type of person who struggles with the dark sides of fame, perhaps also because she's bipolar, so harsh boundaries might be best for her. Even if it means stepping on toes in return. Also: of course you guys only read negative headlines about her because that's the type of content that media thrives on. People love to tear down a successful artist , didn't you guys watch the Paparazzi music video?9 points

She's crossed the line from demanding to be respected as a real human being (completely reasonable) into being entitled and rude, coming across as ungrateful for her fans and everything they've given her. If you get to perform for a living, make a very comfortable earning and live very comfortably, tour the world, live out your literal biggest dreams that you've been fighting for for years.. the very least you can do is take a quick, inconspicuous photo with a little girl who looks up to you. The security can just say "Chappel doesn't want to be recognised so she will come over and take a quick photo and leave"8 points

As someone who hates kids I’d do this too8 points

Y’all will never make me dislike her I kinda love that she has a “no f*cks to give” attitude and that she doesn’t placate to what people say just cause she’s a celebrity. She has boundaries and she isn’t afraid to let people know that, which only comes across as combative or aggressive because we expect celebrities to behave a certain way that caters to *our* demands or needs over theirs. As for this situation, yeah, it sucks, but also, why are y'all blaming Chappell for something her security guard did? If she, herself, went off on this 11-year-old, that’s a different story. Did the guard overreact to someone who obviously was not a threat or harassing her? Yeah. But you can’t blame her specifically for something she literally did not do. Y’all want pop divas, but can never handle them! Like, compared to the sh*t pop stars and artists did back in the day...? The stuff Chappell does is truly not that awful. I'm generally not a "people are too sensitive nowadays" person, but I genuinely don't understand why she gets the reaction she gets from many people here.8 points
-
So... why should we believe him ? and why should we believe that the security guard was agressive ? I've seen spoiled kids misbehave in public enviorments and have had the need to bitch slap their parents, I'd not be surprised if a rich spoiled kid felt entitled to do whatever they want and their parents not taking responsibility for their child's behavior. You all are so eager to jump at her you'll believe anything8 points

Tbh this is the most disconnected I've felt from GGD in ages To me the messaging against Chappell feels so orchestrated. Yes, she's harsh about her boundaries but 9 times out of 10 the people harassing her (the paparazzi) are pigs. The only reason people interpret it as 'rude' is because too many celebrities just smile and accept that inhumane treatment as 'part of the job'. The whole "she should've chosen a different profession" argument is complete rubbish too. The girl went from club performer to headliner in a matter of months. That train took off before she could realistically anticipate where it was heading. Can you imagine having to adjust to that while it's happening? On one hand your literal dreams are coming true and you want to capitalize on it, but on the other hand your inner peace and privacy are crumbling. It's not as easy as saying "oh I'm just gonna drop everything I've worked and cared for in the past decade". She has been open about struggling with bipolar disorder and severe depression. Can you really blame her for being protective – and making mistakes along the way? Not to say that she's above being criticized, but honestly her offenses DO NOT warrant people actively cheering for her downfall.7 points

At first I was defending her, but it's getting ridiculous lmao. Like when she went to that restaurant that always has paparazzi and fans out front waiting for celebs and instead of walking past them like everyone else she STANDS there and starts filming lmao7 points

I've stood with Gaga throughout all her eras since The Fame. I've been her fan through ARTPOP when the media was against her and through Joanne when some fans themselves were going against her. I don't want to fight you or be rude to you despite the fact you decided to come at me because I have an opinion against saint Chappell Roan on a forum which is not about her and people have the right to criticize her. I am not saying Chappell should lose her career or be cancelled or anything. Good for Chappel for standing up against paparazzi and setting up boundaries, and good for her for not letting fans invade her personal space. The whole Kamala thing wasn't ideal but despite disagreeing with her position and thinking she could have expressed her thoughts a lot better, I don't think she sucks or is a bad person or whatever because of it either. She is not wrong for setting up boundaries, but she is overdoing it. Lady Gaga would never in a million years send a bodyguard to berate an 11 year old fan for having the audacity of LOOKING at her. Can the story be different from Jorginho's version? Sure. And I'll gladly stand corrected then, but so far, there is no reason to believe he would make this up for any reason at all and it simply makes Chappell look like a privileged mean rich woman who thinks she can belittle people for beathing the same air as her.7 points

And I bet she wouldn't have done this if she knew it was Jude Law's daughter.7 points

I find this story DELICIOUS. We've know she is unbearable for a while now, and I'm sure she thought this was just a Brazilian child and at the top of her high horse she could send her bodyguard to give her a lecture and no one would care but she unknowingly picked Jude Law's child who happens to be the stepdaughter of a soccer player from one of Brazil's biggest teams with one of the biggest fanbases... Oh Chappel... You should just have sat there and eaten your chicken. Also... Girl you're DUMB. Everyone knows not to piss Brazilians off. Good luck, babe!7 points

Why she's soo mean? Because she's a lesbian?7 points

It's not about being right or wrong, it's more her reasons, which are not very smart overall, the way she mispronounced the name Kamala, and not realizing that her words has a lot of influence on her fans who are mostly young voters and shaping their political views, so she had to be very careful in her words.. it's like to be righteous for the sake of it but without a proper and established political views.7 points

I have been getting a ton of anti-Chappell content on my feed and honestly…I can see why. I get that in principle no one should have to deal with the constant attention fame brings, and rarely will musicians work towards fame for attention but rather sustainability. BUT, living a private life as a celebrity is not impossible and there’s an infinite list of much bigger stars than her that can move around discreetly and we never find out. At this point she’s choosing to not take those precautions7 points

Update: Chappell Roan has apologised to Jude Law's daughter as she insisted she did not ask any security guard to approach her - hours after her team were accused of leaving the young fan in tears. Chappell has now responded, saying in a video on her Instagram Story: 'I'm gonna tell my half of the story of what happened today with a mother and child who were involved with a security guard - who is not my personal security... 'I didn't even see. I didn't even see a woman and a child. No one came up to me, no one bothered me. I was just sitting at breakfast at my hotel. I think these people were staying at the hotel as well. So the fact that a security guard who is... 'I did not ask the security guard to go up and talk to this mother and child. I did not. They did not come up to me. I did not do anything. It's unfair for security to just assume someone doesn't have good intentions when they have no reason to believe it as there's no action been taken. 'I do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do not hate children, like that is crazy. I am sorry to the mother and child that someone was assuming something. 'If you felt uncomfortable that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that.' x _______________________ Chappell Roan accused of sending security guard to Jude Law's 11-year-old daughter Football player, Jorginho, posted a text on social media criticizing Chappell Roan and her team for the treatment given to his 11-year-old stepdaughter (who is Jude Law's daughter) at a hotel in SĂŁo Paulo. According to the athlete, his 11-year-old daughter and his wife, Catherine Harding, are staying at the same hotel as the pop star and, upon meeting her in the hotel restaurant, "like any child, she recognized her and was thrilled." Jorginho says that the girl passed by the singer's table, but did not approach the singer. At that moment, a security guard allegedly approached her in an "extremely aggressive" manner, demanding more respect for the singer. "Honestly, I don't know at what point walking past a table and looking to see if it's someone is considered harassment [...]. It's sad to see this kind of treatment coming from those who should understand the weight that fans have. Without your fans you would be nobody," Jorginho wrote. According to the player, Chappell's security guard stated that he would file a complaint with the hotel about the child's behavior while she was "crying at the table." https://g1.globo.com/pop-arte/musica/noticia/2026/03/21/jorginho-do-flamengo-critica-chappell-roan-apos-confusao-com-crianca-sem-fas-voce-nao-seria-ninguem.ghtml translated:6 points
