https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSupEf2QR/ can’t believe i’d get to see this iconic look in person one day Me and my monster friend went to see the "floral alien" at the national gallery today ngl it looks way crazier in person than in the 911 video, the details are actually insane up close kinda wild that it’s just sitting here in australia lol, didn’t expect that at all The craziest coincidence is after we finished, then we saw posts saying she played 911 as the bow song tonight as well15 points

You're incorrect starting from Disease (it should be higher) and you're not doing much better on the rest Actually maybe delete this thread10 points

We use Disease and 911 in the cirriculum for literary terms and figurative language. Also have a superbowl poster up of her. The kids have grown to love her, too (rightfully so!) and will even insert her randomly into projects to get my approval. (It's hilarious. Picture Lady Gaga on a project about water scarcity or human rights..) So happy that almost twenty years later since I was a kid obsessed with her, I get to inspire youth the way she's inspired me. DC Night 1 here I come!9 points

Call me delusional but I don't think we can judge the way Chappell protects her boundaries. We don't know what it's like to be her. It's a double edged sword for sure but she seems like the type of person who struggles with the dark sides of fame, perhaps also because she's bipolar, so harsh boundaries might be best for her. Even if it means stepping on toes in return. Also: of course you guys only read negative headlines about her because that's the type of content that media thrives on. People love to tear down a successful artist , didn't you guys watch the Paparazzi music video?8 points

I’m actually impressed tho because I’m not actually sure a single placement on this is accurate.8 points

Anyone genuinely defending this looks extremely goofy There is no valid reason why any grown adult should send another grown adult to intimidate and yell at a young child for simply passing her table and smiling. A simple request being like “Thank you, but I don’t want to be talked to right now” would’ve sufficed without all of that, which is what many experienced celebs know to do. She’s pushing her limits with people within the industry and her own wealth bracket, and I have a strong feeling it’s not going to end well soon.7 points

I don't get some of the comments about Fun Tonight. It's easily the darkest song she's ever released (and I'm not talking about dark pop). Maybe you have to have been through it to understand - she even said this was written in protest when Bloodpop again asked her to write something happy. It screams loud and clear many things you go through in the situation she's describing - with personal touches of course, like how it manifests when you experience chronic pain and how that interacts (and if you've read the latest Vogue interview she's not pain-free at all and also ofc still has to take medicine - they of course didn't mention for what - and isn't fully healed like some here think, because fibro is incurable atm) partly because most sufferers are women, and like most female-majority diseases is under-researched. The song is so obvious to me, even the almost painful devil-may-care sarcasm when comparing to the cheerful sound itself. I may have a different kind of chronic pain, being bedridden (my room and the bathroom next to me have been my world since I was 23 and I'm now 35, all due to a medical mistake that effed up nerves in my hip when I was 19 and first became housebound due to no fault of my own) but everything she sings sounds like it couldn't be more clear, whether an irresponsible doctor has left her without important medicine they think you don't need to taper (which would mean what she's feeling is even more traumatic because it's external - I've been there) or she feels it due to her lack of privacy, constantly being used, male jealousy and lack of true partnership and love for who she truly is and of course the horrifying thing that is chronic pain. Look to Disease's video to look into 4 minutes of 24/7 for a portrait of chronic suffering. She couldn't have painted the mind of someone in incredible pain any better. Why is Fun Tonight her darkest? If it's not yet clear, Fun Tonight's subject ends in ... ideation. Maybe passive, but could've even been active, poor woman - I'm glad she seems so much better equipped and more content than we've ever seen her - remember the Vogue quote about the time she released Chromatica and right before: "I was functioning as well as a woman who blacked out from hard liquor every day could have." What a difference, she's finally glowing again. As for the question: She's a genius and I'm not choosing, sorry! DCT is heavenly, with gorgeous lyrics like "The sun is rising, but we're out of light/We twist the knife too many times to say goodbye". It also seems like a personal song but one that isn't cloaked in poetry (especially with real life context) and a has fantastic bridge. It's just that, while House isn't my thing (but probably would've been if she could have been as involved as she was on all of her other albums - everything she touches turns to gold, whatever the genre), the courage she showed by pouring her heart out during the most painful time one can, making Fun Tonight both a great song and still confusing people who haven't been through it with its real meaning? Amazing. Not choosing.7 points

Fun Tonight is literally her worst song after Stupid Love7 points

It's not about being right or wrong, it's more her reasons, which are not very smart overall, the way she mispronounced the name Kamala, and not realizing that her words has a lot of influence on her fans who are mostly young voters and shaping their political views, so she had to be very careful in her words.. it's like to be righteous for the sake of it but without a proper and established political views.6 points

100% and she should go back to that sound for LG9 or 10 tbh. There’s something endearing and eclectic about those records that I think wouldn’t be so far removed from the soundscape she has created and since revisited with Mayhem. I love that you mentioned all those tracks bc I had literally all of them on an EP I made in iTunes and made my own graphic art for it back in high school… oh the memories…6 points
