  2. FINE I ADMIT IT After last night in Miami, HBDUWM on piano and then sobbing together as a group during the actual song at the end I now associate her with such a high emotional state I LIKE THE SONG OK?! It's good Leave me alone about it

  3. Idk. They're boring? Rise in conservatism means they are too afraid to push boundaries? And if they do it seems disingenuous? I've always found men in music boring though. I've never believe in such things as an 'industry plant' but Sombr is the first time I started to wonder. Then I saw an interview in which he said he literally writes a hook, tests it on TikTok to see if it's worth making the full song, and then proceeded to pat himself on the back for being a marketing genius. If this is what they're doing now, instead of writing actual music to express themselves and their feelings and ideas, then it's no wonder they come across as generic with nothing to say

  4. idc what anyone says. PEOPLE cannot queerbait, queerbaiting is target and other companies releasing their basic pride merch every year or trying to appeal to the LGBTQ community. Accusing people of queerbaiting only harms members of the community and reinforce society norms and expectations. One could argue being an artist is their "brand" or "product" but there's no way to actually prove that's what's actually happening, nor would it make much sense since Harry Styles main demographic has always been straight women lol

  8. It’s incredible how this absurd demand for moral perfection is systematically and exclusively placed on female artists. Men have to say something truly terrible or universally reprehensible to face even a fraction of the backlash that female artists endure on a daily basis over the most trivial comments. People have been looking for a reason to cancel Rosalía for quite some time now, and until recently, she’s been dodging it quite well.

  15. I think the Swiftologist explains it well. In short, they’re boring and reinvention often falls short for male pop stars both in execution as well as reception.

  20. Considering both my least favorite and like general reception, I'd say sour candy because it's just such an underwhelming collab. they could've been bigger than the whole sky but just didn't, not a single gagussy or jisooussy or rosussy or jennieussy or lisussy was put into the song

  34. I'm torn, the first half of the video with Gaga talking is a visual slay and I love how over the top and artsy it is, but once the music starts, the video becomes much more simple, almost minimalistic and I kinda which is wasn't

  36. This makes me realize that so many of her collabs are underwhelming. Hey Girl and Sine from above in particular are disappointing because I expect more from a collab with these artists. And some of the others I don't like but they're what's to be expected from these artists. Incredible to say that the only one I love out of all of these is the one in collab with a non-musician.

  37. Right? Since years the dude is seen with girlfriends and wears regular clothes till he has something to sell us then he alludes to possibly being bi and poses in a dress or anything that will be associated with queer fashion culture for the masses. I said it was perfect marketing timing years ago on this forum and I was dragged as some hater forcing a coming out, reducing gender expression to clichés etc like if the dude was just living his truth with me being a naysayer... Since that the formula was repeated again and again so maybe folks will see my point about cynism and exploitation of queerness.

  40. I mean, the twist musically is also a thematic twist where the protagonist reveals that they weren’t just playing at being a “killah” in a sexy way, but is legitimately a murderer and kills their lover (at least that’s one way I conceptualize the bridge). But no shade, you also dislike one of Gaga’s better bridges (Just Dance) so I feel like your taste in music is a little set it and forget it (ie the song can only have one vibe). Also ns but we can’t be saying Goo Goo Dolls when we’re talking about heavy music, sister

  41. I think it’s because they’re not viewed in the same way pop divas are, BUT tbf gays act like there’s no “main pop boys” when there is they’re just all more loved by straight men (and a lot of them are rappers more than pop singers). When men make pop music anything like the girls we never seem to support them, like Sam Smith, Harry Styles and Troye Sivan have had amazing albums over the last few years but gays dont rant and rave about them like we do girls. Lil Nas X was probably the closest we got to a main pop boy but we all seemed to stop caring about him idk why Plus a lot of Pop men are straight and scared to go outside the norm.
