  6. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stþre confirmed Monday he received a message from U.S. President Donald Trump at the weekend saying he was no longer interested “purely” in peace due to not getting the Nobel Peace Prize. “Considering your country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America,” Trump wrote Sunday, adding he sought “Complete and Total Control of Greenland.” Norway’s government does not award the prize, which is given out by an independent committee. The American president’s declaration that he is no longer so fixated on playing peacemaker comes amid his increasingly aggressive saber-rattling on Greenland, the self-ruling Danish territory he has vowed to seize for the U.S. Over the weekend, Trump announced he would slap punishing tariffs as of Feb. 1 on European countries that stood against his plans to annex Greenland, leading European Council President António Costa to call an emergency summit of EU leaders for this week. 8. The state of Tennessee has declared January 19th, 2026, as Dolly Parton Day. In his proclamation, Governor Bill Lee wrote that the musician’s “extraordinary life and career have brought pride to the state of Tennessee,” specifically highlighting her philanthropic work through the Dollywood Foundation and the Imagination Library. This will align to Dolly's 80th birthday this Monday. https://consequence.net/2026/01/dolly-parton-day-declared-for-january-19th-in-tennessee/

  12. via deuxmoi's Sunday spotted: "Gaga and Abel (along with Gaga's fiancĂ©e and one more guy) were seen late last night at Asanebo!" Asanebo is a high-end Japanese restaurant in Studio City. How funny that we are theorizing whether it means anything that they’re both currently in Japan and they actually had a dinner at a Japanese restaurant in LA together earlier this week!

This is why I will never fall for the "It doesn't matter who wins, both parties are the same" rhetoric She not only did this, she also is moving to: - Pass new districting maps to eliminate 4 Republican House seats - Enshrine LGBT+ rights in the state constitution - Enshrine abortion rights in the state constitution - Protect and expand voting rights - Fire Republican appointees to the University of Virginia board - Reestablish support for DEI - Accelerate minimum wage incrases - Build more housing to lower rent prices in the state

  17. Mayhem deserves album of the year, she finally gave critics and fans alike what they want, she went back to her old sound with a modern evolution, she made a brilliantly produced record, she’s literally the lead writer AND producer on every song, all her influences are there, her vocals shine so much because it’s the only album where her voice is so unedited it sounds the same live. It’s her highest acclaimed album and it was a cultural moment beyond just the music; Her record breaking hit DWAS demolished record after record, Abracadabra being the closest song she’s ever made to Bad Romance (the song her critics long for her to redo essentially), Copacabana’s record breaking show, her and Bruno where THE Halloween costumes of 2024. There’s no reality where culturally Mayhem and Abracadabra dont DESERVE wins in the big 3 I’m sorry. I get the Grammys are on eggshells because people will complain a white lady beat out a black man and a Hispanic man, but I’m sorry is the GRAMMYs about the actual music and it’s culture or is it about the US because that’s all it’s feeling like now. Making wins based on US artists, US politics and US popular culture. Kendrick and BB haven’t been on world tours selling out stadiums worldwide, they haven’t had a career that’s still going strong 2 decades in almost. Like people don’t understand how much of a feat it is for a woman in pop to have a #1 single or album almost 20 years into your career without re-releasing old hits or being a sell out. Gaga is like one of the 4 women in pop to EVER do it alongside Madonna, Cher and BeyoncĂ©

  20. She's for sure paid for time and time again. Truly the economic queen of the dollar. Shame money doesn't translate to impact 'cause I can only name one artist that's cited Taylor as an influence and Taylor bullied, targeted, and I think even sued her 'cause she's a spiteful, greedy freak Meanwhile, how many dozens, HUNDREDS of artists have said Beyoncé inspired them? How many of Gaga's peers look to her as the peak of artistic genius? Taylor's nothing but a wallet tbh. Propped up on undeserved hype by weird fans who fall for her predatory marketing every time she has a voice memo of her "singing" to sell them.

  27. Sales are only half the story when it comes to legacy, streams are even more worthless. Taylor will be forgotten one day while the rest of the ladies on that list are memorialized in museums and texts for generations to come. There is literally nothing special about Taylor other than the cult of tasteless stans willing to spend all their parents' money feeding her greed

  28. I have absolutely no idea how anyone could hate this song. It isn't simply one of Gaga's best songs. It is one of the best songs ever made, period.

  29. Even removing my bias, Gaga did something truly exceptional with Mayhem that goes way beyond just being a solid album. She SOLD that record with every fiber of her being. No one else did what she did. I don’t have high expectations, hopefully she’ll take home a Grammy or two though. But at the end of the day, these awards have lost their prestige for me, especially with that leaked letter of the voter who said something like ‘I didn’t even listen to all the albums, and even though Midnights wasn’t her best, I saw her name everywhere so gave her the vote’. I’ve been a Gaga stan since day one and Mayhem is possibly my favorite era to date and that stays true regardless of whether or not she wins a Grammy for it.

  32. Over the years I've learned that not everything has to be super deep or thought-provoking to be good. Is LoveDrug a generational song that will stand the test of time for the next 50 years? No, but it's a cute, fun song. The melody and production are great, and for what it's worth, I think the "river in my eyes, I've got a poem in my throat" lyrics are some of the best on MAYHEM.

  36. I'd say that the G.U.Y music video is very overrated by the fans. Hearst Castle is a stunning location, but what she chose to do with it was a tacky, confused mess of different ideas and aesthetics. Some parts were great and she looked STUNNING throughout, but the whole thing just doesn't come together. It's like she knew this was her last chance to do an ARTPOP visual so she just crammed all her different ideas into one blender. It's total overkill.

  41. I just know she wishes she could rewrite that first line But on the subject of lyrics! "My heart is in a bind, if I could bear it on my own I wouldn't try so hard to numb what's left behind"??? Peak People focus too much on the title and they ignore the context. Literally judging a book by its cover or missing the forest for the trees. One of those. Some of her best lyrics are in this song and idc who wants to fight about it

  45. Refuse to watch the video but I agree with most of the ranking EXCEPT Rihanna is a Nostalgia Act now & I'm not sure SZA is big enough to be an MPG edit- i'm an out-of-touch Nostalgia Act myself, though.. so idk if most other people consider SZA an MPG. Isn't she more of a "prolific R&B singer?"
