  1. I think our best chance is ROTY. Hopefully she'll win at least 1 main category.

  4. This is why I will never fall for the "It doesn't matter who wins, both parties are the same" rhetoric She not only did this, she also is moving to: - Pass new districting maps to eliminate 4 Republican House seats - Enshrine LGBT+ rights in the state constitution - Enshrine abortion rights in the state constitution - Protect and expand voting rights - Fire Republican appointees to the University of Virginia board - Reestablish support for DEI - Accelerate minimum wage incrases - Build more housing to lower rent prices in the state

  8. via deuxmoi's Sunday spotted: "Gaga and Abel (along with Gaga's fiancée and one more guy) were seen late last night at Asanebo!" Asanebo is a high-end Japanese restaurant in Studio City. How funny that we are theorizing whether it means anything that they’re both currently in Japan and they actually had a dinner at a Japanese restaurant in LA together earlier this week!

  12. Even removing my bias, Gaga did something truly exceptional with Mayhem that goes way beyond just being a solid album. She SOLD that record with every fiber of her being. No one else did what she did. I don’t have high expectations, hopefully she’ll take home a Grammy or two though. But at the end of the day, these awards have lost their prestige for me, especially with that leaked letter of the voter who said something like ‘I didn’t even listen to all the albums, and even though Midnights wasn’t her best, I saw her name everywhere so gave her the vote’. I’ve been a Gaga stan since day one and Mayhem is possibly my favorite era to date and that stays true regardless of whether or not she wins a Grammy for it.

  14. MAYHEM had a massive impact worldwide, it deserves more than some of the other nominees whose impact was solely in North America And I guess Golden, too... But that song sucks ass.

  15. ArtRave is fun, but a huge mess, imo. JWT is perfectly serviceable, but a completely forgettable tour by comparison to her other tours. MAYHEM Ball is probably her best, with TMB + BTWB in the top three. CBT would’ve been better as an arena show. I hate when she just slaps “the hits” together in the mid section (à la ArtRave + JWT).

  20. It's corruption plain and simple. There's absolutely no reason to let citizens freeze because of a data center. The saddest part of all of this is that these data centers dont even pay their fair share. For example, the Colossus Data Center in Memphis TN is the largest AI data center in the world. xAI pays $0.06522/kWh for it's electricity. Meanwhile residential customers pay $0.10095/kWh. And Colossus apparently takes up 150MW. That's 150,000kwh. $9,783/month in electricity used and paid, but residential customers would pay $15,142/month. And that would be assuming that xAI has no special terms or rebates (which it likely does) on top of tax incentives and the ability to write off the cost in the first place. For anything to ever change, we need to take money out of politics.

  23. Mayhem deserves album of the year, she finally gave critics and fans alike what they want, she went back to her old sound with a modern evolution, she made a brilliantly produced record, she’s literally the lead writer AND producer on every song, all her influences are there, her vocals shine so much because it’s the only album where her voice is so unedited it sounds the same live. It’s her highest acclaimed album and it was a cultural moment beyond just the music; Her record breaking hit DWAS demolished record after record, Abracadabra being the closest song she’s ever made to Bad Romance (the song her critics long for her to redo essentially), Copacabana’s record breaking show, her and Bruno where THE Halloween costumes of 2024. There’s no reality where culturally Mayhem and Abracadabra dont DESERVE wins in the big 3 I’m sorry. I get the Grammys are on eggshells because people will complain a white lady beat out a black man and a Hispanic man, but I’m sorry is the GRAMMYs about the actual music and it’s culture or is it about the US because that’s all it’s feeling like now. Making wins based on US artists, US politics and US popular culture. Kendrick and BB haven’t been on world tours selling out stadiums worldwide, they haven’t had a career that’s still going strong 2 decades in almost. Like people don’t understand how much of a feat it is for a woman in pop to have a #1 single or album almost 20 years into your career without re-releasing old hits or being a sell out. Gaga is like one of the 4 women in pop to EVER do it alongside Madonna, Cher and Beyoncé

  25. The East Coast of the United States could soon experience rolling blackouts as AI data centers gobble up more and more electricity, pushing the grid to the limit, according to a new report. PJM, the organization that services nearly 70 million people in a 13-state corridor stretching from Kentucky to New Jersey, may be forced to trigger power outages during high demand periods, such as summer heat waves or winter freezes, The Wall Street Journal reported. Mark Christie, a former head of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, said he used to believe the threat of blackouts was distant. “Now I’m saying that the reliability risk is across the street,” he said. The AI boom has seen data centers cropping up across the U.S. but they are heavily concentrated in Northern Virginia, increasing demand for power and leading to soaring energy bills. “It’s killing my pockets,” a Maryland resident told Bloomberg in September. Another added: “You wonder, ‘what is your breaking point?’” PJM has projected that power demand will increase by an average of 4.8 percent annually for the next 10 years — an unprecedented pace of growth. And ICF, a consulting firm, forecasts that demand in 2030 will surge 25 percent above 2023 levels, largely as a result of data centers. PJM board Chairman David acknowledged the existence of “reliability challenges” but said “they are not unsolvable.” Warning signs are already flashing red. This summer, heat waves surged demand for power on the PJM grid to “near-record highs” as consumers tried to cool their homes, according to the Journal. PJM responded by requesting that all power plants operate at full capacity. PJM also paid multiple large energy users, including factories, to cease operations. While historically rare, rolling blackouts can be deadly. Over 200 people died in Texas in the winter of 2021 after the grid operator in the state ordered utilities to institute rolling blackouts to prevent complete grid failure amid freezing temperatures. Some Texans were without power for days. A few months ago, PJM came up with proposals intended to balance the needs of both consumers and data centers. One plan said they would slash power to data centers during periods of strain. Tech companies such as Amazon, Microsoft and Google opposed the plan, claiming it unfairly singled out data centers. They responded by offering their own proposals, which would make going offline voluntary. Joseph Bowring, the head of Monitoring Analytics, has asked the federal government to step in, filing a complaint with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, which states that PJM should be prohibited from servicing new data centers unless it has adequate capacity. Unless action is taken, “PJM will be in the position of allocating blackouts rather than ensuring reliability,” he wrote in November.

  40. I enjoy all her tours minus a few nitpicks here and there. 100% agree about the way she’s typically handled The Hits over the years, particularly the way the arrangements are never changed or how they’re just lazily cut down and treated like something to get out of the way rather than something to be revered. This was a huge issue on artRave. I also think the outfits on that tour were pretty awful. Aesthetically speaking, The Fame Ball, Monster Ball (1.0 and 2.0 but especially 1.0), JWT, Chromatica Ball and Mayhem Ball are my favorites. I love the Born This Way Ball, but I feel like The Mayhem Ball improves on pretty much every aspect of it, in my opinion. Let me also add that it’s such a shame that someone who is so acclaimed as a performer doesn’t seem to put any care into the legacy she’s leaving behind on that front. No live albums or commercial DVD releases for her tours. It’s just really sad and annoying as a fan that more isn't done there.
