Democrats need to stop being afraid of being called scary socialists. They will always call them that, what matters is to win elections and deliver to the people. Mamdani, AOC, Bernie Sanders etc are always the “scary” faces of the Democratic Party. The NYC mayoral race isn’t comparable to the other races because Cuomo was running as an independent but is really a Democrat. Democrats swept tonight with Mamdani on a ballot and people are fed up with fascism. Centrist Democrats also won last year in key races. Centrist Democrats work to win in select areas. But we should have bold people driving public perception. Trump is anything but pragmatic and has been president TWICE and currently has the government shutdown precisely because him and Republicans don’t want to compromise. Democrats need to play the game and actually stand for something.20 points

Rosalía’s LUX is already making history before its official Spanish release. The Guardian: 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Times: 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rolling Stones Brazil: 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Alexis Petridis from The Guardian gave Lux five out of five stars, describing it as “a truly captivating and immersive experience” and praising Rosalía’s voice as “a fireworks display of talent.” Daniela Swidrak from Rolling Stone Brazil also gave it five out of five stars and wrote: “The album moves between intimacy and operatic scale… it is an ambitious emotional arc, a radiant world where sound, language, and culture merge into one.” Pop’s most provocative chaos agent delivers a transcendent album that sounds like nothing else in music right now. Both Rolling Stone and The Guardian have given it a perfect 5/5 — the highest possible score — and the praise couldn’t be louder. According to Rolling Stone, LUX is “radically different, more ambitious than Motomami, and infinitely bolder.” They describe it as a spiritual ascent through music, where Rosalía’s voice “has never sounded so divine, reaching operatic heights with flawless control.” The review calls it “an operatic masterpiece that redefines what it means to be a pop star — absurdly brilliant from start to finish.” Meanwhile, The Guardian calls it “a demanding and distinctive clash between the classical and the chaotic that could only come from Rosalía.” It highlights how the album blends sacred themes, experimental soundscapes, and emotional rawness into something completely new. With 18 songs divided into four movements, LUX isn’t background music — it’s an immersive experience meant to be heard in full. Or, as Rolling Stone puts it: “Don’t shuffle this while washing dishes — this album deserves your full attention.” https://rollingstone.com.br/musica/rosalia-quebra-todas-as-convencoes-do-pop-em-lux-e-mostra-que-para-disco-bom-nao-ha-receita-pronta/ https://www.abc.es/cultura/musica/disco-impresionante-estrella-pop-decadas-critica-extranjera-20251103182503-nt.html?ref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.abc.es%2Fcultura%2Fmusica%2Fdisco-impresionante-estrella-pop-decadas-critica-extranjera-20251103182503-nt.html17 points

California Gov. Gavin Newsom scored a major political victory on Tuesday when Prop. 50 — a ballot measure that will allow the state to redraw its congressional districts in order to elect more Democrats to Congress — passed with overwhelming support among voters. The Associated Press called the race at 11:00 p.m. ET, immediately after the polls closed in California. THIS IS HUGE16 points

Americans: it is time we cut the political apathy! Primary every establishment Dem! Vote out every Republican where it’s feasibly possible and before they gut even more of our voting rights! A better world is and always has been possible!!! This momentum has to be carried to the national level!11 points

It's just not productive. It reinforces stereotypes, it overgeneralizes and focuses on very surface level "symptoms", it's invasive and there's no point.10 points
-
I honestly just think speculating about someone else’s health (mental health, neurodivergence, etc) is kind of invasive (not that it would be shameful or an insult to imply someone was autistic or anything). Also I think the criterion people apply is overly broad and a lot of people online have a tendency to overly pathologize human behavior in general (categorizing fairly normal behaviors as ADHD symptoms, trauma responses, signs of autism etc).10 points

The vast majority of her discography is upbeat electronic/dance music. Tbh, there aren't enough ballads. I need her to do a full-on ballad album (not counting ASIB since that was for a movie and not a solo era). They're also universally loved, despite what some fans say. I mean, I feel like most people prefer the 1000 Doves piano version over the album one, even though supposedly everyone only wants more electronic/dance pop Gaga.10 points
