  1. You can tell bey did NOT want to lose her artistic identity by jumping on that electronic/dance pop wave in the early 2010's like so many other RnB/rock/hip hop mainstrean singers did at the time. She knew it would make her not be taken as seriously as an artist as she is now, and would just be seen as a commercial act, rather than a musical legend. She did modernize her sound with the album Sasha Fierce and then Run the world as the lead for 4 by a adding a pop electronc element to it, but always stayed true to her roots. She managed in a very clever way to artistically evolve through this era of music and stay relevant, as the mainstream sound changed drastically. Thats something that gaga could not do in the mid/late 2010s, instead she just said **** it and sang a complete different genre of music of what she was used to do.

  8. Billboard listed MAYHEM as one of the best albums released this year: The 50 Best Albums of 2025 So Far (Staff Picks) - 06/24/25 With Mayhem, Lady Gaga achieved what so many veteran hitmakers set out to do but rarely accomplish – creating a brand-new album that somehow evokes the best of their earliest hits while feeling wholly original and modern, delighting casual fans and die-hards alike. Nowhere is that link between the old and new clearer than on “Perfect Celebrity,” a flawless sequel to 2009’s “Paparazzi,” which pre-fame Gaga created before understanding just what she was signing up for in the coming years. But “Perfect Celebrity” was written with eyes wide open (“You love to hate me,” “I’m made of plastic like a human doll”) – Lady Gaga has lived every moment of this life, and even as she fully understands all the pitfalls and dark sides of fame, she’s here to be our “Perfect Celebrity.” Fittingly for an album with a signature hit called “Abracadabra,” Gaga pulled off a magic trick with this project. https://www.billboard.com/lists/best-albums-2025-so-far/kali-uchis-sincerely/

  9. 143, Katy Perry (2024) Perry's seventh studio album, 143, was met with generally negative reviews from music critics. Mark Kennedy of the Associated Press referred to the record as "uninspired". According Metacritic, is the worst-reviewed album of the 2020s and the nineteenth worst-reviewed album of all time. Mikael Wood for Los Angeles Times, said "These songs are bad, and not even in a fun way. “143” is an oddly cold dance-pop album with boring melodies, utilitarian grooves and vocal performances that feel vaguely AI-derived." The lead single "Woman's World" has also been included: "Woman's World", Katy Perry (2024) "Woman's World" was universally panned upon release, garnering derision for being "out of touch" and having a generic composition that some speculated was AI generated. It has also proven controversial due to being produced with Dr. Luke, who was in legal battle with Kesha for allegations of drug-facilitated sexual assault. Finally the recognition she deserves https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_music_considered_the_worst# Quotations here because image upload is not working

  27. Lana is one of my favourite artists, but she’s not a performer I will ever pay money to see live. She’s just not that kind of artist. She’s never been particular good live tbh. Even the recent increase in production of her shows have felt like a distraction to her performances.

  29. 1. Gaga didn’t really do country. She put on a cowboy hat and did some southern heartland soft rock songs. 2. Beyonce isn’t doing country for the hell of it. She did it as one album of a three act project in which she, a black artist, reclaims genres that originated with black musicians but were appropriated and stolen by white artists. 3. Beyonce grew up in Texas surrounded by and appreciating country music from the time she was a child. Google is so free. It is not a chore to brush up on some context and history to understand the chasm of difference between Beyonce making a country album and Gaga making a not-quite country album. One is cultural and historical commentary. The other was an aesthetic.

  33. I would kind of understand this level of show if she was still playing theatres and small venues, but she has an entire ass stadium tour the UK, like she has 2 dates at Wembley for god's sake. If she can't perform a full length show and doesn't bother to even sing her hits I can see why the fans are upset, glad I couldn't get tickets now NGL. Compare this to Bey last week who I saw peform HARD for 3 hours in a stadium with 41 songs, it's just not value for money.

  34. Calling indigenous people "antagonists" for wanting to remain on their land and not be subject to genocide is actually the issue. History is nuanced, yes, but we know enough in 2025 to know that the "thin line" the buffalo soldiers provided white expansionists was to cause harm to indigenous americans and "mexican revolutionaries" defending their land. It's actually quite insane to romanticize manifest destiny and genocide. You do you though, I guess.

  35. Indefensible? As in cancel her? it’s not that we’re hypocrites…it’s that we have cognitive thinking skills. Yes, it’s odd, and in bad taste, but do you genuinely in your heart believe that Beyoncé has a disdain for native Americans? Honestly? It’s obviously a PR oopsie. This era is about African Americans’ underplayed, and undervalued contributions to American history, culture, and more specifically, country music be it BAD or good. I liken it to people wearing 70’s rock band tees and having not a single clue who that band is. Let’s be real, there’s a very good chance her and/or someone on her team were lacking in the context department. AND YOU, AND @lastpopicon KNOW THAT . It’s obviously an oversight, and it’s offensive, but what do you want us to do? Do you think we should all burn her house down, bar her from ever touring, remove her music from all streaming platforms? “they're the first to jump on Gaga for the smallest things (even when it's a non-issue)“, I’d like to remind you of a little tune called DWUW…we were all arguably mature enough to move on, and forgive that entire debacle which was OBJECTIVELY worse than this t-shirt/IG post. Silent on Gaza. Silent on Iran. Silent on the very real issue of the American economy that is draining the same people she’s asking to buy merch and outrageously priced tickets. This could be said about all of these artists. The REAL issue is people on the internet and celebrity gossip forums have an insatiable lust to tear female artists apart, and this time it’s someone you immaturely view as “competition” to a celebrity you have an unhealthy parasocial relationship with. It’s not that we can’t handle criticism of Beyoncé…it’s that you lot have a feral, excited reaction to any criticism of Beyoncé or any other artist that isn’t Gaga. AND if the mods of this site wanted better for this community they’d crack down on these threads meant to conjure up all of this negativity not just about Beyoncé, but Cardi B, Azealia Banks, Jay Z, Rita Ora, Nicki Minaj etc. We all have social media profiles, and we all see trending topics and gossip on other platforms. We don’t need it here too. This should not be yet another place where we’re fed the same tired, stupid hot topics to rage bait us. GGD is just as bad as barbz on twitter, worldstar, or the shade room at this point.

  36. I wish people would spend the same energy and time over a shirt, on important stuff, like actual native american activism, if you care so much about them. the shirt is not the problem, a beyonce backlash will not solve the native's problems. What have you done to help the Apache Stronghold to protect Oak Flat? online activism is so tiring, especially when it's involved celebrities
