  3. Did a record label exec write this? Disagree. If artists want to own the music that they created, then they should be given that opportunity. Taylor's music is valuable because it's hers, not because of investors or managers. In fact, she was basically Big Machine Records' only successful popstar, which is why it was obvious that she was the target of the Scooter Braun sale back in 2019.

  10. Ngl claiming that her effectively saying Audra McDonald isn’t vocally right for Mama Rose in Gypsy (which I think is pretty objectively true) is a microaggression is wild and claiming that she’s specifically targeting Lewis and McDonald because they’re women of color doesn’t really add up when you consider that LuPone has said much worse things about white women . Is it ungracious? Absolutely. Is it rude? Assuredly. Is it racist? Probably not.

Your runaway winner since day 1, ‘Replay’ is an absolute monster of a pop song, & it’s clear that Gaga & her fans love it to pieces. This is an undeniable highlight, which sees producer Burrns chop up Diana Ross’s “It’s My House” into a howling melee of slamming house beats. The kinda ‘circus going off the rails’ feel to the pre-chorus gives this a characteristically Gaga brand of oddness, but the powerful chorus is just undeniably accomplished pop music that anyone would have been proud to have written. I’ll leave you guys to read the comments below from some of the 39 (THIRTY! NINE!) voters who gave this their 11, because they’re filled with love (& many, many claims that this should have been the lead single, which I can’t disagree with). With a staggering average of 9.36, ‘Replay’ is Gagadaily’s Chromatica rate winner! Comments: @TimotheeChalamet “The most interesting track on the album along with Sine From Above” @angelduuh “Replay is just amazing, one of her best songs.” @asfittingasmcqueen “One of the best songs in her discography. A highlight of the album & a perfect example of how a well-used sample can elevate a song” @RebeldeFaith “No notes. Perfect. Zero issues. She snapped. Do it again.” (although they might have been talking about Enigma ) @Misha4Ever “It's one of her best songs of her ENTIRE discography. The production is perfection, the length, the passion, everything.” @n1kos “Best song of the album , it should be the lead single.” @MajorMinus “Unique production; feels the most “Gaga” on this record.” @djfreemymind “The scars on my mind are on PUTYOUR****INGHANDSUP REPLAY” @Lukasson “Best song on the album. The performance during the tour even elevated it.” @Bronco“Replay feels like the only production that holds up after 5 years.” @AliceAnesthesia “Replay is THAT girl” @iamdna “idk Alice, 911, Replay, Sine & Babylon are out of this world” @Sestri Levante “Replay is the track that encompasses everything that I love about Chromatica. The track is the definition of dancing the pain away, healing & letting go of the monsters in us. Chromatica will never be over, because Chromatica is about healing 💗⚔️” @Obobo “Should have been the lead single — truly deserves a music video & a place on the charts.” @Haldy “Replay should have been the lead single. Not only is it one of the few songs on Chromatica not let down by its production, but Gaga's vocal performance & lyrics are perfect on the song, every part working to make the perfect dark, tormented pop song. One of the best in her discography.” @pratz “EARGASM. Clever play on the sampling. Its dark, noisy, chaotic dance anthem. Gaga's vocals go hard as well. You can feel like she's being tortured, 10/10 on vocal delivery. THE entire song SOLD IT.” @kimeow “It was my favorite song from Chromatica on day 1. It's weird, dark & fun & everything i love about Gaga. The Chromatica Ball performance elevated it from my solid 10 to an 11. Ratty kinda slayed that choreo!” @YASKALE “Replay is the Aura / Scheiße of the album, & I think that Gaga's/everyone's thoughts about the album notwithstanding, it has the most potential to reemerge as a fan favorite deep cut.” @highongaga "The Diana Ross sample.. the production.. the lyrics.. the theatrical vocals.. Replay is the masterpiece of Chromatica.” @HeAteMyh3art “Sounds the most GAGA” @Cameltoe Chariot “The song (& live performance) that was the beginning of MAYHEM.”

  18. Let me just make clear that even if the era ends right now with no further singles/EP, it would still be a massive success and career re-peak, Abra and DWAS are global smashes and she's culturally relevant like she hasn't been in a long time, not to mention the promo shows, setting multiple world records and personal records. With that said, I think they have a plan, the success we are enjoying this era is not an accident, her team is actually dialed in, if you think about it, it was masterful, the grammy's promo captured the attention of the US public, then Coachella followed, where she delivered her best live performance ever (IMO), even long time fans were gagged, and her numbers SKYROCKETED after it, then she captures the Latin America market with Copabacana/Mexico and the Asian market with Singapore, this era feels CALCULATED and very carefully crafted. The insane success and re-peak we are seeing this era is not a "happy mistake", and it's not even because MAYHEM is a good album (It is a good album, but I'm trying to make a point ), it's because her team actually created the scenario where success is almost inevitable with gaga's insane talent. Tl;dr: I don't believe they will let this promo spot go to waste.

  26. Couldn't disagree more. Taylor's stance isn't new. Prince was a huge advocate for artists owning their masters in the 90s, along with him exploring the concept of re-recording his catalog (JoJo also did this for her albums before Taylor, and I believe she's the one who inspired Taylor to do the same). As long as an artist is involved in writing and/or composing their material, there is no reason why they shouldn't be the primary owners of that work. It doesn't stop anyone else except for the label from profiting and controlling the catalog once the artist has fullfilled their contractual obligations.

  33. Lastly I just need to thank you! It was really fun seeing how Gagadaily feels about this divisive album five years on. To be honest, I don’t always get along so well with Chromatica. But I know that lots of you guys do, & if I’m good for one thing on this forum, it’s running a next-level album rate. Chromatica is intensely tied to a certain time in all of our lives, & it’s clear that it helped many of you through an experience that was traumatic, & scary, & seemingly endless. I’m really glad that we’ve been able to celebrate the record together after five years, & for this to be Gagadaily’s biggest ever megarate is the cherry on the cake. Thank you to everyone who voted, especially if you left comments or attended the ceremony. I hope you’ve enjoyed taking this trip down memory lane with me, & I’ll see you next year to celebrate 15 years of Born This Way. Until the next time! Cruelty

  34. 10 STUPID LOVE – average 6.77 11 x 2 [ @leedeegaga @Romkance]; 10 x 11 The lows: 1 x 6 [ @n1kos @ManMan @ChvVolk @50 Ft Queenie @Ayoherewego @TheSine] January 2020. Fresh off the box-office success of the Middle America behemoth A Star is Born & its accompanying smash hit “Shallow”, Lady Gaga is on the top of the world. Las Vegas concert tickets are flying off the shelves, Gaga’s online presence is expanding at a rate of knots, & there are whispers that a long-awaited ‘return to the dancefloor’ is just around the corner… All the odds are in her favour. But then. Did you know that ‘Stupid Love’ was originally intended to be Chromatica’s lead single? It leaked in late January 2020, however, so Gaga decided that it would be best to scrap the single release & that’s why they chose ‘Replay’ instead. I think they made the right decision not to release this one. Sure, that chugging electropop production is at least halfway competent (thanks to French house legend Tchami), but this is just so clearly one of the worst things Lady Gaga has ever put her name to. ‘Stupid Love’ is vapid, & artless, & inauthentic. It’s what happens when you buy Lady Gaga from Shein – a nonentity of a song with nothing to say & no reason to exist. Gaga steals her own chord progression from ‘Born This Way’ & slaps on a title that’s a direct synonym for ‘Bad Romance’, to produce something that lacks the heart & the power of either. Along the way, she utterly forgets to write a chorus, instead roping in a dolphin to… sort of gasp for air, I guess? Jesus, there’s a Max Martin credit on this. ‘Stupid Love’ was genuinely written in 2017 for A Star is Born & later considered for BloodPop®’s mercifully as-yet-unreleased album before finding a home on Chromatica. That might explain why it feels so underdeveloped lyrically compared to the rest of the record – it was literally written for that part of the movie where Gaga’s stripped away any sense of artistry to instead sing mindless nonsense over cheap Sunfly Karaoke instrumentals. Thankfully, ‘Stupid Love’ wasn’t a single, so we can just sideline it, pretend it never existed. & do you remember when the plans for the music video leaked? They were going to go into the desert with an iPhone & some Temu Gaga cosplay, & just hope that they could fix it in the edit with some low-quality CGI. Everyday I thank God that we didn’t have to see that music video. You know, there was a brief but delightful moment where ‘Stupid Love’ wasn’t going to be released as a single due to the leak. But we don’t have the joy of living in that timeline. I have no idea why this was Gaga’s ‘return to the dancefloor’, & I’m thankful for ‘Stupid Love’ only in that it makes it easier for us to rank Gaga’s lead singles. But listen, as Little Monsters, we’re in this for the long haul. For every Grammy win, there is a year without a nomination. For every Top 10 hit, there’s a deep cut that we wish the GP would discover. & for every ‘turning up emotional faders, keep repeating self-hating phrases, I have heard enough of these voices, almost like I have no choice’, there’s a ‘freak out, freak out, freak out, freak out, look at me now ‘cause all I ever wanted was love, hey yeah hey yeah, hey yeah hey yeah, hey yeah hey yeah, I want your stupid love, love, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh)’. As the harbinger for everything that went wrong in 2020, an unholy portent of doom, ‘Stupid Love’ is best forgotten – & the consensus tonight clearly agrees. @Romkance didn’t leave comments, so we don’t know the powerful combination of drugs that led them to award this an 11/10, but you can see @leedeegaga’s attempt below. Yes, this was my one (1) allotted rant post. Comments: @leedeegaga “It’s probably the only song from the album I listen to more than once a week. It’s catchy & what I would call a classic Gaga sound.”

  38. This is so performative and dumb. She is known PRIMARILY for her vocal talent + for being rude. To literally everybody, she has been skulldragging Madonna for actual decades, unprovoked, where all these people asleep all these years?. I find the idea of "drawing the line" at melanin to be... odd to say the least. She has always been blunt, and rude, it's what she's known for off-stage. To celebrate her for it when she's dragging Trump or Madonna, but then clutch your pearls when it's a black actress' turn, is performative. I don't even think most of these people actually believe her words were racially motivated, but they're still running with it just in case, to "be on the right side". I'm sorry but it just feels silly and disingenuous. I hope she continues being rude to everybody undiscriminately
