I've been busy, so I haven't got the chance to comment since the album came out so I'm a little late.  At first I didn't really like the album.  I think her releasing songs such as Royals, Tennis Court, and Team really sent the impression that the album would be more pop and accessible than what it actually is.

It took a week or so, but all of the songs have grown on my tremendously.  Although it's still a brand new, I can tell that this is going to be music that I'll be able to listen to 10 years from now and still love.  She poses so many questions throughout the work, put together in such a tight knit package complemented by such a euphoric production.  Definitely the best release since Born To Die in my book.  Maybe even better.

My favorite song at this point is Buzzcut Season.  The lyrics and melody of the chorus followed by that euphoric post-chorus takes my breath away.

Also, am I just late or on my own or something, but I believe the title is meant to read Pure Heroine and Pure Heroin. The fact that she has the pure in front of it, as well as the general nature of the album, leads me to believe it.

One journalist said Royals is deeply-racist because of "Gold teeth, gray goose, trippin in the bathroom, Cristal, Maybach" claiming attacking black ppl and rappers lol. Reaching much.

You didn't give a link, but an uneducated American journalist, I'm assuming?

The fact that they didn't even know where Lorde lives just shows how incredibly stupid they are.  That line they quoted applies only to the Black American population.  Lorde lives in New Zealand,

While New Zealand does have it's social problems, racism towards impoverished Black Americans isn't one of them.

THIS. If that journalist was going to criticise Lorde, they should have at least, I dunno, googled her first, rather than applying a context to Royals that is blatantly wrong  :toofloppy:

Selena responded to Lorde...

I appreciate Lorde and love her music. She's very talented
I've covered her music alot.

Feminism is a very sensitive thing.

It's not feminism if you're tearing down other artists.
She's young and going to take over.

I don't take it to heart.

I would start a thread but the mods seem to dislike all the Lorde threads lately
