I'm curious to hear what people think of St. Vincent and the SOPHIE-inspired song on her new album, All Born Screaming. I've been seeing a ton of discourse on Twitter about it. Annie Clark of St. Vincent, a queer artist, is getting scrutinized by SOPHIE fans for her song Sweetest Fruit referencing SOPHIE's poetically-described way of passing. The album itself is really great, and my favorite of St. Vincent's body of work. It makes me wonder about the boundaries of songwriting and inspiration. Is it really that bad to be inspired by a situation and write a song around it? She's an artist, after all. We've seen countless songs being written about other artist's lives and deaths, so why is this different? It's really not that serious and I get worried that we live in an age where we have to walk on eggshells or else you're the villain. Discuss below, but please be kind.

I think it’s still too early for them to play it. They usually play them around 3-5 weeks before they come out. We also just got the first trailer, there’s probably going to be a second one and then the final trailer right before the release date.

omg drag me 😭😭 you really said if you movie addict haven’t seen it yet, no one has. i know they called it a teaser trailer, but since it was full length i assumed it would be played like a normal trailer. the initial trailer for the first movie was also billed as a “teaser trailer,” but it definitely played in theaters as the second trailer didn’t come out until august (ahead of the october 4th release)

I feel like you answered your own question the teaser is literally a teaser, not the feature trailer that will show in movie ads (although it's epic enough to be) also wont it only show for rated R movies?

i go to the theater 3-5 times a week. (i do have a full time job believe it or not!!) but anyway, despite seeing a range of different types of movies over the last couple weeks, i still haven’t seen the joker trailer in theaters. have any of you?? are they not playing it yet? maybe they really do only see this as a “teaser”

Considering I was 16 when she debuted and used to always have the music channels playing (when music videos on TV were a big thing) this was mine too! And probably the same for most people around my age. Back then whatever was pop music was played on TV and radio, and basically everyone knew of all the current pop songs and artists. Today with streaming services everyone kinda lives in their own bubbles of what they like
