The fashion of the TFM era got darker towards the end. The sort of Alejandro/pre-BTW period. BTW was a little darker overall, but as Timisamonster pointed out for such a positive message it seems odd. Probably Gaga's darkest era from a personal point too with the d--g use to self medicate her hip and then the hip break

BTW was unnecessarily too dark for such a positive message??? :wtf:

BTW was way too dark... I feel like everything about BTW was just too much... :toofunny:

Maybe you just didn't understand the album.

First of all, Marry the Night is about marrying your obstacles and what scares you in life, and embracing it.

For it to be all rainbows and candy canes and lollypops wouldn't be true to Gaga.

That's why saying it's "too dark for a positive message" is a ridiculous, irrelevant criticism of the album.

The album isn't just about "born this way" as an empowerment slogan, it's also very much about defining who she is as a person and an artist. To say the album is too dark is to say that she herself is too dark.

BTW. I find ARTPOP darker than TFM tbh. :rip: I mean TFM has a dark theme as an album but if you take the songs seperatelty there aren't that many Dark Songs.

BTW in both sound and image,

i dont find TFM dark at all, i mean shore it has a few dark lyrics but overall its a pretty light pop album with only one dark music video

Look, she was dark during TFM, in some classy way and everyone liked it, but with BTW I think she crossed the line with everything, not just being dark... that´s why she is unsuccessful now... all the rockish leather style, it just wasn´t neccessary in my oppinion...

I would not want an album full of rainbows, I think I´d puke actually :laughga: but the dark style from TFM was organized and well-thought through, while BTW was pretty messy + the messy production... although I love songs like GH, Judas, BM, Scheisse and HML, after these 3 years I kinda can´t stand Electric Chapel or You and I... something about that whole album seemed inconsistent and over the line...

That´s just my oppinion... I´m trying to look at it from the objective kind of way, and objectively I have to say that her popularity fell down because of BTW and the overly dark element was a part of it...

Born This Way's soundscape and music was more dark, but the premise of the Fame Monster and its packaging was darker for me. Bad Romance and Telephone's music videos might be pristine white and colourful, but they feel very dark compared to Born This Way.

So why say it's "too dark" if that's not even your problem with the album?

Just to be negative about the album?

And to blame where she is now on Born This Way is ridiculous.

Born This Way singles actually HAPPENED with the public, it spawned 4 great hits America and 3 worldwide.

ARTPOP has been sitting with us for months and months, and only spawned 1 hit, Applause.

The public will respond to material that they like (Born This Way).

ARTPOP's level of success can only be blamed on ARTPOP itself.

After Born This Way she had 2 successful endeavors with the public: Born This Way Ball, and FAME fragrance.

She was perfectly set up for a good comeback, but ARTPOP failed to deliver, and that's all that can be said about that.

It´s always the album before that the new album stands upon, after TFM she could have released anything and people would eat it... BTW dissapointed, pretty big I would say, the only succesful singles were BTW and TEOG and half of the album hurts your ears... ARTPOP is a much better album and there were many factors that led to its unsuccess... BTW was one of them... you can´t protect the album no matter what, you have to look at it from an objective point of view ;)

+ when I said that it´s too dark, I meant that it´s too dark, nothing more, nothing less, you started opposing me with your response... I´m in no mood to argue with anyone, I respect your BTW loving oppinion (it´s not a bad album, but you can´t deny that it knocked her down), please respect mine, bye :kissga:

Right? I know she wanted to do it differently but it SHOULD'VE been bright and OTT

Which is why her interviews and the BTWB speeches are so contradictory with the imagery and sound of BTW

Since when did YOUR opinion mean mine was irrelevant and ridiculous? :awkney: My opinion is an opinion that you don't have to agree with , but that doesn't make yours the only right view...
