That has nothing to do with BTW :toofunny: you can't just expect to disappear from the public consciousness for close to 18 months (including the BTWB) and then come back and be on top of the world. Her hiatus + general public silence during the BTWB resulted in her decline.

But YOU still aren't admitting that BTW was filled with problems from start to finish, climaxing with the Hip Injury. You are only wanting to view the entire picture from a single point in time, but 2 years later sitting with ARTPOP the reasons things the way they are is because of the problems that carried over from BTW. Born this way SOLD an immense amount, but realistically, the material wasn't as good as what came from TFM - and I'm not saying that as an objective opinion - it's just truth.

BTW was great until Judas and TEOG became rushed singles, from that point on things fell APART.

Let's not even get into the treatment of TEOG staircase master video - Things flopped so badly during that era, and things are continuing to flop all over the map.

I don't give two flying F's if she sold 25 million the first week on BTW, she was riding the success from TFM. When people realized the music just wasn't as good as before interest began to wane, and Critics lambasted ARTPOP, and people interests in this album is pretty much gone now.

Both albums are good, ARTPOP moreso, but the handling of both have been piss poor.

Granted, what happened this era wasn't her fault, but don't be delusional to not think that BTW wasn't a road bump.

The BTW era was very successful and didnt make the ARTPOP era flop. In 2011 Gaga was very mainstream and everyone listened to her songs with pride, now only applause is popular and known after almost half a year after the album release. The fact that GUY and ARTPOP are flopping doesn't have to do with her changing a look in BTW era , but it's because people forgot her and she promotes the album like a piece of art when it's very similar to every other dance/pop album out there.

She wasn't riding on the success of TFM :toofunny: it wasn't that big. The singles were mostly in the Top 10 and everyone knew Bad Romance, but not enough to keep her going to reach the astronomical heights of BTW. She had excellent promo running up to the album coupled with an excellent first single.

ARTPOP's management, however, has been a mess. And she scuppered DWUW's chances of success when it could've easily been a Top 10 hit.

I like that you're explaining your opinion in a coherent, non-hostile way. I'm fine to agree to disagree with you.

:messga: people drastically overrate TFM era's responsibility in BTW's success. TFM came out over 18 months before, and it's singles weren't even super successful.

Alejandro and Bad Romance slaayed so hard you can still hear them in the radio ! 2010 was Gaga year.

I didn't say completely. It obviously played a part but I would say no more than 50%, if that. The Monster Ball? Maybe.

Right? More success is owed to the phenomenally successful (critically and commercially) Monster Ball. People were DESPERATE to see what would come next.

TFM and TF eras cemented her status as powerful force to be reckoned with. She was untouchable then, and that isn't just my bias of those albums, but she was on point then.

TFM, finishing off of the tour propelled her into Mount Olympus like levels of fame & obsession - the world wanted to know everything about her, and @ that point in time from 2009-2010 she was riding super high.

BTW was the fall, ARTPOP was the crash.

It's not just a difference of opinion though - and I dont need to get the "receipts" to prove otherwise. We all know it's truth, but kk.

Telephone was very successful as well , but Alejandro was and I can say still is one of her most popular songs ( at least where I live) . If you say Alejandro to someone (even to people who don't know  poop  ) they will know you mean the song.

I see that, yeah. It does seem like a bigger radio hit (in the present) too. :)
