MonsterOfSpain 8,318
They do, far more than Katy Perry. And what does really mean she would be much more popular? Is this what you care? Popularity comes ans goes and Gaga is one of the most popular persons on earth, isn't that enough? How do you know they take her seriously? Nobody is buying (not as in spending money) her "ARTPOP ****" lol
Truth 90
Yeah, if she kept making the music she used to back then, I'm sure she would be on the top still.
VforVendetta 2,024
How do you know they take her seriously? Nobody is buying (not as in spending money) her "ARTPOP ****" lolYes because taking someone seriously is the same as buying him music. Gaga is in a commercial underperformance this era but this doesn't mean that will sell out to please the masses. I'm sorry that Ill say that but people can always jump the ship with the rats in times like this, if you appreciate Katy's career choices stan for her, you will have many #1s and many plastic songs to stan for. mic 1,415
If she carried The Fame Monster clothes and music into today she would be much more popular. Exactly. The fashion is not bad but is not consistent and messy.

I meant everybody thinks she's a pretentious b---h by naming her album something with ART in the title.
TSUNAMI 20,948
Well, Katy and Rihanna wore off her image with copying her style and thats why she is not hit anymore. Her image got reused so much time and what was awkward then is basic now because all those "artist" copied her image and style.

Popularity comes ans goes and Gaga is one of the most popular persons on earth, isn't that enough? Well, you said Gaga is one of the most popular persons on Earth, a statement that shows you care about that at least a little. If she was still doing small time shows at the Bitter End in New York, that would be enough too, right? Do your own research.

blahblahblahhhh 15
The only constant thing is change. I don't mind that. What I have problems with is the fact that she downgraded in a way. She dropped all the theatrics, the gimmicks which made her loved and interesting to everyone. Even I feel this way. The ARTPOP era looks kind of "basic" to me, minimalism gone wrong. I still like it though, but from her sound to her costumes to her performances, everything just feels lacklustre to me.

VforVendetta 2,024
I meant everybody thinks she's a pretentious b---h by naming her album something with ART in the title.Yes but she did what her vision said to her, she took her chances. This is a true artist. The one that always restricts his works to please the others is not an artist, it's a jukebox with recycled music.

VforVendetta 2,024
But why did it work for them and they're still going strong if that image was wore off? Who did they copy next?Because their image is not as important. What keeps them relevant is producing generic pop music that dominates radio. Their image never was as important as Gaga's and this is why their status as artists never was that big.

Also, I remember people were saying during BTW that the gimmicks were getting in the way. Remember all that talk, "she has become a parody of herself." Well, maybe she was trying to poke fun at herself for laughs, like a reaction to people saying she was so serious... This is art! Remember when she referred to herself as a jester, that people either took her too seriously or not serious enough? Do your own research.
