Is the Gaga hate a trend or a consequence?

I don't think it's about her music. People got tired of her because she wasn't provocative enough, like Miley is for example. Yes, Gaga once wore a meat dress, dressed as a man, filmed very s-xual videos (Alejandro), but maybe it wasn't enough for some people, who don't even "see" the music anymore. I think that people only see what's on the outside, singers are not artists anymore, they're just products, music is just some files on a computer...

I'm not saying that all Miley fans are not music lovers, of course some of them are, but you can't deny that there's a huge visual dimension to her. Same with Gaga, but even her eccentricities are not as fun as they used to be (for people who don't like her).

And it has become a trend: when everything you hear around you is "Gaga sucks, she's a man, she's ugly, she's fat, she can't sing", you become persuaded of this and jump on the hate bandwagon. I was like that before, I did jump on that bandwagon without knowing anything about Gaga. People are just lazy I think.

It's a mixture of both. The media likes to give her a hard time and she made it very easy for them with this era. I mean, she really didn't allow anyone to latch onto her or relate to her because she was too busy transforming herself into a different person every other day, constantly disappearing, going on this huge crusade against the critics (which probably wasn't her brightest idea), adding an enormous load of extra weight onto a supposedly fun album, and then the music just wasn't strong enough to back all of that up (IMO).

 

The media, however, did play their part. She "stumbled" on the first week against Katy and they were so quick to write everything off as a failure from then on. The media isn't exactly fair and once they've sold the era as a failure, it's pretty hard to recover it in the eyes of the public. So, yes, I would say it was a good mixture of both trend and consequence.

Why do you always have to write in your threads with how much you dislike ARTPOP and take always as a fact that it is not good enough? There are people who love it here and we find it offensive you know. I thought you wanted our opinions so why do you take yours as a fact?

As for the OP I have to disagree. It is no coincidence that when she was the IT girl everyone was kissing her ass and sudenly everyone disliked everything. It IS a trend to hate Lady Gaga because she is controversial and she seems untouchable so people forget that she is also a human. People are creul, they want to see successful people decay and fall from one day to anothe and the opposite. The Lady Gaga of TF era was not less co controversial, she was just new back then and she could do no wrong. This Gaga evolved, this is the healthy course of things and everything alive on this world evolved, only constructed things remain the same. Anyway Gaga has made her choices and she chose to be who she is. The day that the media will kiss her ass again will return sooner or later and for some sunny reason the same will happen with the fans, her biggest critics.

Well - If a media outlet writes a negative article but nobody pays attention it, does it even exist?

How many lessons after lessons does Gaga have to attempt to teach this fanbase before people actually get it? She is clearly in this business for the music now, not the bling, not the sales, not even the recognition. She's in it to simply make others feel good and come together.

Why do we care about the media ""hating"" her? Why do we care if it's this single's fault or this era's issue or this performance's failure? Does it effect the quality of the music to you? Does it make you view Gaga any differently?

I am so over this forum and everyone always being nostalgic and caring what other people think. The charts thread is a mess and should be closed in my opinion. Anyways, I think if you like Gaga (which obviously you do since you're on a forum about her) then you should just listen to the music. If you didn't like ARTPOP, okay big deal. State your opinion and drop it. WHy are there always so many threads about negativity or how unpopular she is now. Or all the weird interviews from the BTW era where she explained that those horns in her face were implanted there or she looked like some kind of alien?

BTW was hyped, but it still kept a lot of fans around. I mean, every era some will fall off, but this has been like two exodus in a row for Gaga.

I disagree.  If Gaga had released another album similar to Born This Way, I would have jumped ship. I signed up for dance-pop not stadium rock.  ARTPOP made me believe in her again.

And while you mention Miley, my opinion is that she is more herself than Gaga has been in about a very long time.   I just don't like most of her music. 

I'm pretty sure Miley decided to wh*re herself out and do whatever it took to make headlines and be the "it" girl.  All the Miley crap that happened in the 2nd half of 2013 wasn't "Miley finally expressing herself and being free", it was "Miley using her status as a former child star to manipulate the media and the country into talking about her".

Have you not seen the many, many threads on here from all the TFM stans? Gaga made their little hearts leap at such a young age because she was "such a biitch back then"! They post the videos and ...OOOOOH, how they miss her when she was a beyotch and didn't take shiit from anyone!!!! They want biitchy Gaga Baaaack!!!!

 

She lost almost everyone I knew in real life, including a ton of my music and theatre friends who LOVED her before, with the BTW era. She was weird then and pushed the majority of the GP in the US away.

 

This era has actually been a step back in the right direction. She is still different...and she always will be...Gaga is still Gaga, but many of my friends and the GP are starting to come back around slowly. Her public persona and interviews, for the most part, have been more real, on a consistent level than they have been at any other time in her life. Gaga is growing up and maturing. She is learning how to separate the weirdness onstage (and even offstage) from her interviews. She is learning when to catch herself when she realizes too much is too much.

I dont see that much hate tbh as you guys, maybe i'm not following any magazines that talk trash about celebrities, but what exactly are we talking about?

 

The things i know about are:

 

- the 25 million marketing budget

- the fight with katy

- ARTPOP underperforming

- fans talking **** about Gaga

 

Is there more?

 

I have thought a lot about ARTPOP and this whole Era, and i have to say, it wasn't easy for anyone and imo the whole "hate" she got was just a consequence of bad choices she and her team made.

 

While so many fans talk **** about BTW and blame it for everything, especially for making one Gay song, which is more than ridiculous, she was still selling songs and many people who never liked Gaga before adore TEOG and YAI. And i remember people here in Germany talking **** about her all the time during TFM and BTW Era, but her Music was on point, it was totally with the time, fresh and exciting. The same goes with BTW, it was new, i had to get used to her new sound but it was an adventure i wouldn't want to miss out.

 

ARTPOP on the other hand is good, i got used after 6 months to many songs, but i know that in few years there will be just two songs i will remember from this album and those are DWUW and Applause, so i'm not wondering of this Album "underperforming" and not being welcomed from the GP like they probably expected. 

 

Another thing that got me so annoyed this Era was the whole hypocrisy. "I make music for my fans and not for the bling, but please buy it as much as possible and gift it to your friends and watch my video as much as possible, here is even a link where you can watch it for 30 times at once" "monsters, dont be bothered by perez... omg, he is at my appartment, help me monsters..." and so on and on and on.

 

This was for me a shock personally, cause i was used to this strong, independent and mysterious woman and seeing her in totally different light was something i disliked at first and hat to learn to overcome and to ignore tbh.

 

Well, press loves to gossip but she delivered them many stories, but of course there are some made up, like that 25 million budget thing.
