Guest
Any kind of timely video would've easily pushed it into the Top 10. Just a lot of unfortunate circumstances around that single.
gagabro 268
It would have at least gone top 10, probably top 5. So sad...
SpadesToStart 3,444
The video itself would have stirred up publicity and sales, plus the streaming points would have pushed it into the top 10, which would garner it even further airplay and sales. Wet Fire 7,440
Not a smah. But definitely a big hit.
LaLuna 12,732
In retrospect I'm glad she never released the DWUW video. I think the whole thing would've been a mess and Gaga doesn't need more backlash at this point in her career. I mean, sure it probably would've helped get the song up a couple spots on the charts, but I don't think it would've been worth the backlash and controversy that may have resulted from a video with R. Kelly.
IHE 563
It would have smashed. That song was a smash waiting to happen. I'm secretly glad she didn't go the Miley route though. She isn't trash and I'm guessing the video was trashy and cheap.
SpadesToStart 3,444
No... I think the video was worse than WB and Gaga didn't want to go THAT extreme, so she realized it was too much and scrapped it. Remember her saying we weren't ready for the video if we thought SNL was questionable? Terry is a perv and so is R. Kelly and I think both went too far with the visuals and concept! She didn't want to seem like a try hard and be an attention seeker. She was trying to make the music stand out and it ended up being a s-x/p0rn sells kinda vid I think you're onto something. It would take quite a lot for Gaga to totally scrap as a big a project as a music video. If it was just problems with her team, why not just release the video as is and then go into blackout? I think Gaga was in some ways ashamed of the video, and that's why she never wants it to see the light of day. Maybe she thought the video had the potential to scar her reputation as an artist. No Angel 128
It was a hit waiting to happen... arguably the most single potential track from ARTPOP. It could have gone places with a video and better organized performances. But we don't wanna talk about the month of December, now do we?

All of what you said...it ended up being a video for Swine tbqh and even for Gaga's controversial standards...it was too much and she didn't want to make all 3 of them look bad Again, Gaga being the bigger woman and trying not to ruin not only her reputation, but also Terry and R. Kelly's all ready shady pasts. Stream my new single, 💜"Heartbeat"💜, on Spotify!
MJHolland 12,725
I get where you're coming from seeing that gaga has had a lot of controversial videos before. But if you do notice, the last one was Judas. And Gaga has never really been fingered in a video by a person most people call a rapist. This is not a sustainable trend for having hit singles oh my lord NO.... NO :dead:
Born To Slay 10,996
Not totally convinced by the whole "the video would have saved it all" idea. Like.... has the G.U.Y. video really served the song that well on the charts? I'll let you judge by yourselves. DWUW was top 20 on iTunes for a while and was top 10 on pop radio tho, a video could've shot it to the top 10, especially before the rule change. DontDoubtDavid 1,191
No. People would think she's trying to hard and it's sales would go down, a la Judas.
Bellatrix 34,789
No. The GP is simply not here for Gaga anymore, deal with it. This. Lose control. Let go and fall. Do you get the satisfaction?
