MJHolland 12,725
hmm wrecking ball got views from criticism due to a Miley Cyrus plot twist. Gaga is expected to make a controversial video. She's created a trap for herself because if she creates a controversial video then it's to be expected and it'll have little-to-no surprise.
wiltedbliss 915
No... I think the video was worse than WB and Gaga didn't want to go THAT extreme, so she realized it was too much and scrapped it. Remember her saying we weren't ready for the video if we thought SNL was questionable? Terry is a perv and so is R. Kelly and I think both went too far with the visuals and concept! She didn't want to seem like a try hard and be an attention seeker. She was trying to make the music stand out and it ended up being a s-x/p0rn sells kinda vid But Gaga never cared about controversy. Idk what happened :/ Alejandro was VERY s-xual too and was playing with religion so..... :/ But yea, I get what you're saying.
Travis 543
Not totally convinced by the whole "the video would have saved it all" idea. Like.... has the G.U.Y. video really served the song that well on the charts? I'll let you judge by yourselves. It depends on the timing of the release as well, though. Mills 446
Not smash, but it would have easily propelled the single into the top 10 of the HOT 100 chart - have it been released during those weeks when DWUW was selling around the top 15 on iTunes with some healthy radio updates. I get where you're coming from seeing that gaga has had a lot of controversial videos before. But if you do notice, the last one was Judas. And Gaga has never really been fingered in a video by a person most people call a rapist.

Bio 23,538
No. The GP is simply not here for Gaga anymore, deal with it.
GreenEyes 1,049
DWUW honestly could of been one of Gagas biggest singles ever. still makes me sad.

Idk what happened :/ Alejandro was VERY s-xual too and was playing with religion so..... :/ But yea, I get what you're saying. Gaga had a purpose to her controversy tho... I don't think there was "meaning " behind R. Kelly grinding on her and Terry being allowed to direct If Gaga didn't feel comfortable, and like you said she's released Alejandro and Judas type of videos... It must'vebeen baaaaaaad! This is the first time she hasn't released a video, but she was also having problems with her team soooo Stream my new single, 💜"Heartbeat"💜, on Spotify! Shadow 6,625
Nah... she would have gotten heat for the r. Kelly thing. Do your own research.

Well radio was playing DWUW during that time and it was charting well unlike G.U.Y. so it had the chance. Father, Son, and House of Cucci
RichAssPiss 4,921
I think it could have smashed if there were a video at all! It sold a million copies and went Top 20 without one and Gaga is a quintessentially visual artist. The video would have made it a double platinum Top 10 just like Applause. jsn 1,648
I think DWUW would have been bigger than Applause with a video and stuff. Even though that song was from a while ago, people at my school still go around singing the chorus; I've heard it more than once just this week. Though I wouldn't want for her to have had to go through the negative controversy either so....
BLACKOUTbritney 22,356
Yes. The song is a smash. I've said countless times and I'll say it again: DWUW had so much potential that was murdered by the unfortunate circumstances between Gaga and her team. :tea: :tea:
