Mich 397
Why are you surprised about this? G.U.Y. isn't the catchiest song in the world, it's a fun song, but by no means is the chorus something that people will be singing in 2 months time. That doesn't mean it's bad, but with the competition right now, all radio is going to play are songs that are catchy and so structurally commercialized that it doesn't take longer than 5 seconds of thought as to what the song is about. Having the same lady gaga fans repeatedly requesting the song isn't going to help, I'm sorry but they know that. I think you all need to prepare for the fact that Gaga is becoming an indie-pop artist and learn how to deal with it. I'm not even saying that to be rude, but I think you will continually be disappointed the longer you set such high expectations for her to be at the top of the radio / charts these days. Born this Way was a major set back in the eyes of a lot of people outside this fan base, it's going to take her much longer than 2 years to shake the bad stigma that people had against her. Judging by her recent performances, I'm not even sure she cares to shake that bad stigma, which I think is awesome regardless. Screw the GP, screw the mainstream radio. I would feel more successful having a dedicated average sized fanbase that was with me through the very end rather than commercializing myself to the point of where my music was among generic **** like #SELFIE and will be forgotten in a year. -please see LMFAO. Party Rock Anthem is NEVER played anymore, and is almost an annoyance to anyone. While songs like Bad Romance and Poker Face still seem timeless to this day. freebit 6,240
I heard it on the radio for the first time yesterday. It was on Sirius XM Hits though. Good omen? That station usually plays everything Z100 and KISS does. It was honestly refreshing after hearing the million replays of Happy, that Avicii song, Timber and Dark Horse (I swear it's just those four songs on a loop for most stations). It sounded great. As for general airplays, its ebbs and flows: that's just the way it goes for some artists. I don't know why. My other big fave Kanye hasn't been super popular with radio since 808s (not even going to discuss Kylie Minogue's or Janelle Monae's situation with U.S. radio ). It's annoying because radio plays a lot of boring, generic trash. Why not allow for some variety? G.U.Y. is not even horrible (or dated sounding like some concern trolls claim), especially when you hear it mixed in with the rest of the top 40 like I did yesterday. I still haven't quite figured out radio. I do think some form of payola exists, but it also seems very iTunes/sales driven, yet how is the general buying public supposed to know the song exists in the first place if they don't play it on the radio? At the same time I also think there are some songs that just have that "radio sound" that automatically gets the spins (random examples: Pink's 'Who Knew', Em and Rih's 'The Monster', Katy's 'Roar' etc). In other words: if it sounds like it appeals to midwestern white people in minivans trying to be "hip", it's radio friendly IMO.

Ladle Ghoulash 23,834
If they're not going to take requests seriously, they shouldn't take them at all. Shut down all the request mechanisms. Stop pretending they're listening to us. To "take" requests, and then ignore them, is just cruel. Seriously. We have forgotten our public MANNERS

I was a radio fanatic about five years ago. Radio is so boring and repetitive.
VISION 52
I always wondered about Gaga's success, she is not a mainstream artist, especially since BTW. I don't expect her on radio anymore That is why I loved Gaga, never listened to big musicians except for her, and based on my music tastes, Gaga is not really pop-friendly

VISION 52
:) My music tastes are very non-mainstream, more indie electronic, but Gaga has caught me.. Forever A huge exception for me, but there is a reason for it
